hi everyone i love these topics , really interesting. so what about before christianity even existed and people didn't follow god do you think those people went to hell, hardly fair seeing as they didnt even have the christian god in those days and what about the people in tribes all around the world that dont know about christianity or the hindus buddhists and muslims etc that dont follow christianity do you think they are all going to hell ? phew heaven is gonna be a bit empty i thought in the bible it talks about jesus/god being all forgiving and merciful and loving the sinner but not the sin? thats why i'll never see any credibility in the bible and god cos there are to many contradictions! different christians have different interpretations of the bible and they will all insist that their interpretation is right and everyone else's is wrong and so they don't really Know god, so you cant ever get anywhere cos nobody wants to admit that maybe they are wrong. anyway........ im sure in a programme i watched they said that it wasnt true that they had found the dead sea scrolls, does anyone know if that is right? ps - i dont mean to cause any offence peace and love issy
When the spanish landed in south america they were shocked to learn that the natives knew the story of the flood. God will find a way to reveal Himself to all who seek Him no matter where they are on this earth. The Dead Sea Scrolls are no mystery, and the evidence for God's Word have been verified by the scrolls. The Bible is one third prophecy and God said that as we near the end of time, God would allow the Jews to return to Israel one last time. He is doing this to reveal to the Jews and the world who He is. The Jews are not back in Israel at this time because of accident or luck. It is part of God's bigger paln. You can read more about this in Ezekiel chapters 37, 38, and 39. Yet there is much more of this story to be found in the Bible. The Bible even has three chapters that speak of America's future.
Wide is the Gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there be that go in there at, but narrow is the way that leads to everlasting life, and few there be that find it.
quote: When the spanish landed in south america they were shocked to learn that the natives knew the story of the flood maybe you were a conquistador in your past life, slaughtering non-belivers, spreading small pox...that was you era Campbell...no worries though, they were heathens, and beneath you, the one who god loves above others.
hi that doesnt necessarily mean that they believed in noahs ark! back in those days they didnt have any way of logically explaining things such as floods, so they probably made up the story about noahs ark to help them understand it- the same as is done it lots of different ancient mythologies eg- thor the god of thunder etc. there is archealogical evidence that shows that people did travel to other continents in those days and before so if there was a big flood it was likely that word would have gotten around and thats how the native americans would have known. think about it nowadays if there is a flood, hurricane etc in another country we know about it but we don't make up stories about it cos we understand it nowadays. i'm sorry but i have to disagree, what about tribes in the middle of the amazon that dont really have contact with the outside world are they going to hell? so where do you think the people that lived before christianity went when they died as they didnt know or follow god, and what about buddhists etc, does being christian mean that you automatically get a pass into heaven? even if they kill people/are a meber of the klu klux klan etc? how can a merciful god who apparently has complete control of the universe and who knows what we are going to do then condemn us to hell when he the one who determined our destinies in the first place? it doesnt make any sense! thanks will try and check it out show me the proof, surely this is just peoples interpretation for something in the bible as america as it is now didnt even exist in those days what about the love the sinner hate the sin bit? peace, love and goodnight to all issy
Jesus is so fucking over-rated.The bible is a bunch of gobbily gook in my opnion. But aside from that, Jesus was hot and I would have loved to fuck his brains out.
Hey, you do kinda look like him.... MEOW Just don't go trying to convert me lol after we roll in the hay ok?
No, the Bible states that you are born once and then the judgement. And any conquistador who slaughtered non-believers was not a man that was filled with the love of God was he. Heathens are loved by God as much as believers. The life of a non believer is precious. And it is because of the heathens which once included myself, is why Christ died on the cross. God is just across the stream and He is trying to get us all to cross it. But as the Bible declares, most will turn away from God, because the really have no intrest in Him.
As far as the flood goes every culture on the face of the earth all have in their folk lore the story of the flood. It is just not the south american indians who have repeated the story. And many of the details match the details found in the Bible. God, does not decide are future, and that is because He has given us free will. If we go to hell, that is our decision, not Gods. The Bible is not big on names of countries, or people, but God in His wisdom choose another way to reveal things to people who are really looking for the truth. The Old Testament does not ever mention the name Jesus Christ, yet one billion people today call Him God because of the Old Testament. The reason for this is, in the Old Testament it gives a little more than 300 descriptions of Christ. Christ fulfilled all of those descriptions. His rejection by His own people, His betrayal for 30 pecies of silver, His death on the cross which is even mentioned before the Romans were doing such things, it is all there. America falls into the same camp. It does not mention America by name, yet it does mention us by description. You will find America in Jer. chapters 50 and 51. And Revelation 18. I believe there are other chapters as well. God does love the sinner but that does not mean that God gives a free pass to sinners. According to the Bible the only ones who get into heaven are those who become Born Again. Another words, people who give their life to Christ. These people will still sin but Christ covers their sin by His blood. The Christian will try to live His life to please God from that time forward. You will never be perfect but Gods sacrifice and you asking Christ into your life is what changes you. His Spirit enters your body and seals you from that day forward. I might point out, that if you just say the words and still belong to groups such as the Klu Klux Klan, it is doubtful you ever had an experience with God. God knows a heart that is true. The Bible clearly speaks of men in the Old Testament that will be in heaven who lived before Christ. These people from that time followed God as well. Christ blood covers all people that lived before Him, if they followed God. God reveals to everyone who seeks him. The problem is most people don't. I have heard so many stories over the years of Gods power, and have personally seen His power myself. Nothing is impossible for God.
Well that is easy to say when you no little or nothing about Bible prophecy. The fact is, His return is already being anticipated because of the prophecies that are now being fulfilled. The Jews retaking South Israel first, the recapture of Jerusalem, the sealing of Jerusalems East Gate. These things are not happening by chance. The Bible speaks of Russia and their sneak attack on America. It states that American cities will burn, and our nations great voice will be silence. It also states that are nation will come to her end in one hours time. The Bible also speaks about an astroid hitting the sea and sinking one third of the ships in the sea. Thats pretty good, because that was written about 1700 years before anyone knew there was such a thing as an astroid. Santa never fulfilled 300 prophecies of the Old Testament. Jesus Christ did.
The preaching of the cross to them that perish is foolish, but to we that are saved it is the power of God. New Testament.
I'm not a christian, per-se, but I think this thread was a little too slanted in the other direction.
If it is God's will that none should go to Hell, nobody will...he's God he can have what he wants! And don't give me the free will bullshit either, God is in "control" of "all" things. Nothing happens unless he "wills" it. THAT is the Bible. An omnipotent, omnibenevolent, omniscient God cannot co-exist with TRUE free will. For if God KNOWS what you WILL do, you WILL do it. And such a Being couldn't not have true emotions as described in the Bible either. Unless he's faking it all and it's a big puppet show. There is NO GOD. Play semantical gymnastics, "interpret" all you want-- NO GOD, NEVER HAS BEEN, NEVER WILL BE. Religion has only RETARDED human progress. Having NO religion means NO religious wars and that would eliminate over half of the killing, terrorism and violence that takes place in the world today. If people would get their heads out of the fucking clouds searching for gloryland God and focus on life here and now...we may be able to manage a good world.
Dude, do you really believe this? Don't you think if there was no religion the powers that be would find some other way to get the masses to do their bidding? Don't gt me wrong, I think religion is possibly the greatest evil man ever came up with, I'm just saying if the people pulling the strings didn't have the God concept to use as a rallying point, don't you think they'd find something else (like oil or money or nationalism maybe?)? I think using "God" and "religion" interchangably is a miatake. In fact I think it's the crux of the problem.
Ahhh...ok, I gotcha. The "God concept". Well, I definitely agree with 99% of what you just said, but I fail to believe in an actual god.
