FedUp, I don't really know the best way to explain to you, that just because YOU believe the bible is the corner stone to being a true christian (the topic we are discussing) doesn't mean everyone else has to. The whole point of this thread was to be able to allow people to move away from the rigid definitions set out by those who want to attack the faith (more specifically the church and dogma, in my opinion). But you keep coming back to this whole "The bible is Christianity" thing and challenging people with that "fact" despite the possibility that the poster may not believe the same thing.
i don't remember jesus saying anything about the 'bible' or any other religious texts. jesus didn't write the bible. if i were a great spiritual teacher and people wrote about me after i died, i wouldn't be able to condemn or approve the writings. personally, i don't think christ would like very much what they wrote about him. they made him into a god when he was only trying to show the way. and i think he would condemn most of christianity and 'christians' today. jesus was a cool dude. it's just the shit that gets carried out in his name. i don't take the bible to be literal or even view it as partially correct. i view it as a historical narrative, selected moral teachings of the jews (and tales of conquest and rape and murder and oral sex and all that other good stuff that makes it a good story). i would, however, consider myself at least partially 'christian' because i think christ believed in Love. and I believe in Love. I follow the teachings of christ (which, when you boil it down, it is simply love and forgiveness). Not that i think he was anything more than a spiritual leader, a rabbi whose message has been twisted by time. I would like to see more people show the Love and compassion that christ showed. Bottom line= Christ spoke of Love and the apostles turned him into a god. the bible is shit, it's just a book. it has a few good stories, a few moral lessons, but it shouldnt be taken literally like these silly southern baptist churches deep in the south do. you know, the ones that like to handle snakes and drink poison in the name of the lord lol.
I can't agree with you more, Natural Philosophy. Best wishes on your spiritual journey that we call life. May you be free from suffering and enjoy eternal happiness forever! Peace and love
Wow man. You say you think Jesus was a cool dude and you try to foloow some of the things he preached. Then why would you laugh about him being tortured to death?
Jesus was the living embodiment of the grace of Lord Shiva, and was a gift to the Divine Mother as the mass field of humanity, who gives Her life as a sacrifice for the creation of our finite, miserable and temporary lives. Christ lived and forgave unconditionally, because He as Shiva was aware of the Karmic predicament of us. Inorder to percieve Jesus in this perspective, you have to have your Kundalini in Sahasrara Cakra.
why would i laugh? because the picture is funny. ive been feed this christian bullshit all my life that jesus is watching you and you can't say the LORDS NAME IN VAIN and jesus is looking over your shoulder don't jack off, jesus will see!!!!!!!!!!!! the image of jesus isn't sacred. he was a cool dude, but he's just another human. i just dont care. he's not my god.
He laughed about Fed Up's signature which shows Jesus being tortured to death on the cross. He's not my God either. I don't think it's funny because I would never laugh at another creatures pain and suffering while being tortured to death. This is especially true in Jesus' case since he preached peace and love and was a wonderful person. It's sick and twisted to laugh at hish suffering. But I guess you like when "cool dudes" get tortured to death?
I think that picture is funny too because it isn't real. It's a joke. It has a biting style of humor that cuts straight to the quick. I am sorry that it offends you. Peace and love
^hippie chick is right. i'm not actually laughing at somebody being tortured. it's a picture of a movie that has been parodied. don't get your panties in a twist. it's a joke
It's not a funny joke because many people were cruicified. You are, in effect, laughing at those people as well.
