because blacks stayed in the sun, and whites stayed in the cave to avoid the cold..
the same reason why the polar bear lives in the arctic and the brown bear lives in Georgia...

Yeah, actually many anthropologists now believe that 'getting high' was a vital part of not only the shift from animal realm to humanity in our species, but also in the formation of societies and social bonds.

It's believed that sometimes plants may have been used beforehand, or the people fasted and deprived themselves of sleep. Then they'd be taken down into the society's painted cave (google the beautiful cave paintings of Lascaux or Chauvet) in flickering torchlight, where they would chant and dance as the animals appeared to move around them, thereby inducing hallucinations. It's believed that a shaman would lead this ceremony and guide the trip. Afterwards, that strong experience would create a special bond to the clan along with reinforcing their place/role within society and the world.

Honestly, tripping has always played a role in human history, usually guiding humans toward self inflection, spirituality and the such. It's funny how people have a hard time accepting it, when it's obvious that Moses and other bible figures did hallucinogens, which was normal at the time. Just as native americans did hallucinogens to induce religious experiences, same thing.

First of all, why on earth would you not believe it's true? And secondly, evolution is about the actual physical/anatomical changes that a species goes through adapting or changing into a new species. Not the societal/cultural changes that humans may have gone through since living in caves to inventing religion to making towns. So that comment just didn't make sense.

I kinda like Joe Rogan, he's good friends with Doug Stanhope, one of my fav comedians.

I've listened to some of Joe's theories and they are about right imo, but on the other hand his attitude upon knowing certain truths is a bit shitty imho, but then he is a comedian and not a philosopher so is paid to twist things to be funny.

There's no way he could know exactly what cavemen were doing, as we only have some sketchy drawings to go by. I very much doubt that they can explain such a detailed story. I guess if there's any truth in what he's saing is that there's a picture on a wall of a cave somewhere, depicting someone eating mushrooms and then "meeting god" or whatever happened in there trip.

Religion (in the common sense; as in jebuz and the devil etc.) comes from ignorance imo. As far as I understand it religion was originally meant as a guide to live a good, healthy and harmonized life. The original definition of religion is something like "compare bonds". What sugests to me that it's it originally was an exploratory term rather then a fixed set of ideals.

It seams that in the last few thousand years, religion has been "reworked" into a way of controlling people, just as much as politics.

It may well have came from cavemen, but I don't think they are to blame for the current state of religion. ;)

It is reasonable to assume that mushrooms would have the same effect on cavemen that is does on modern men. How do they affect you?

My most intense mushroom experience comprised of coming back from camden on the train after munching a pretty big dose (Camden is a place in London where, when mushroom were legal, you could easily get them).

I had to move carriages in the train at every stop as I was laughing so much I was drawing massive attention to my self and looking like some what of a mad man. I was on my own so had no excuse lol.

When I finally got back me and my friend who I met up with went to a local park, it was the MOST beautiful day!

I spent the next hour or so literally surfing on a wave ridden sea of constantly changing colour that was the grass. I felt elated.
