i would imagine that with the release of the REAL story of 'Joe the Plumber,' y'all are probably feeling a little sheepish...

    But that's okay!

Unfortunately, it's Obama's campaign/supporter folks that are at fault.

(You did see That story, also, right?)

More and more of these things are actually coming to light ~ in the real light, not the boob-tube light. ~

And even if he IS elected? He STILL has to prove his citizenship.

I suspect that Joe (whos name isn't really Joe, and who isn't really a plumber--"where are ya, Joe?") will crawl back under the rock from which he came after McCain loses the election (if we're lucky we won't have to endure an embarassing country music career). And I'm sure that since he doesn't yet own that plumbing company, he won't do any worse under Obama than he would under McCain, in fact he'll probably do better.

As for Joe's platform, namely if I make more than a quarter mill a year, I got mine, why should I have to share it, that's the mentality that got us into this mess. I had to bite my tongue when the Republican business owner I know claimed that the fiasco in New Orleans was an effective way to get rid of the "undesireables." Again, the pittance we spend on welfare for the poor is so little compared to what we spend on corporate welfare, yet it benefits so many more people, people who give back far more than fat cats in their gated communities.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for capitalism and rewarding hard work, but with wealth comes the responsibility of taking care of those who got you there by putting money back into the infrastructure. After all, you got there on the backs of others. We've seen that the reverse Robin Hood economic policy of the bush administration doesn't work because corporations that are "too big to fail" are bad for consumers and bad for the economy. And they don't give back because they're too greedy. The only way to prevent this phenomenon is to level the playing field by creating a sliding tax structure in which the rich pay more. It's not socialism, it's fiscal responsibility.

Maybe some day "Joe," er, Sam, will find his ass on the street unemployed without a pot to piss in, bankrupt, his house foreclosed on 'cause he had a medical condition his insurance wouldn't cover. Maybe then he'll reconsider what he stands for. I doubt we'll be hearing much more from that asshole now that McCain got his ass kicked, thank god.

I sincerely hope he gets one of the jobs in Obama's new deal.

We are going to have to work together to get through the coming age of scarcity. We'll need dumbass plumbers, and more.

Agreed. Another scenario is that he sees that once the wealth is spread around, everyone's better off, and he comes to his senses.

    Welcome to Today, pal.

i'm Joe (an illustration). i have Hep C 'cuz of working as a nurse; i have a genetic disorder that causes me to retain any iron i intake/eat, called Hemachromotosis; i have asthma, and am alergic to pretty much everything ~ a redhead.

Guess what? The people in my community (and it's a SMALL community) reach out to help me ~ my doctor, with a program through our county, that helps with my health care, and which i would NEVER dream of abusing ~ others with offers of groceries, help with phone bills, etc.

i'm married and my husband works. He does as much overtime as he can, in order to provide for us. If i don't need the help, i don't use it just because it's there. We pay about 25% of my husband's GROSS for health insurance for me. We try to set aside monies in a 'cafeteria plan,' where the money is not taxed, 'cuz it's marked for medical expenses (right now, it's $1,500/yr).

i think that, 'cuz we ARE appreciative and grateful for the help, and because we don't abuse it, the folks in the community are more willing to help us. They can see that we do as much as we can toward helping ourselves, and toward making our sitch better.

Even though i'll never be able to hold down a "regular" job again ~ for lots of medical reasons ~ yet and still, i'm not, like, confined to bed. i garden and grow plants that i can sell. i can be online, making money with these flippin' Get Rich schemes, 'cuz other folks are willing to click on ads on our webpages ~ to the tune of an additional $100/mo. that we can count on.

Well, that's one of my major bitches ~ why can't EVERYONE that finds themselves in a horrible situation, health-wise, just think for one moment that not only is it not their "fault" that it happened, it's also not the rest of society's "fault" that you can't be productive and a contributor.

When someone reaches out to help you, you just can't be, all like, "Well, i'll DEIGN to accept your supposed help, but i need to be me, and i don't want you to try to REIGN over me, in any way, shape or form, even though i've proven myself to be a dumbass who can't think beyond the next hour into the future."

Or he could just shake his head, decide that becoming a business owner is just too much hassle, and decide to let his dream go...

Hey! But THAT's what Americans WANT, right? Folks that just decide having a biz, hiring employees, all THAT, is just a crock.

    Nice job, you flippin' Obaminites.

Way to KILL any American Dream anyone could ever have had.

Obamities, really, if I didn't think this was the most important vote of my life, I would've thrown my vote away on Nader like I've done before. And if it makes you feel any better, I doubt Obama will turn out to be the socialist everyone thinks he is.

A quarter of your gross income toward health care seems kinda high, don't you think?

Good to hear you've got a community of folks who help each other, but god forbid your hard earned money goes to help anyone you don't know, right?

Furthermore, most of the deadbeats that take our government handouts are minorities, many of whom come over here to our country, get their green cards, pump out a bunch of kids, and then sit on their asses while we pay their way, right?

But hey, not me. I'm white, healthy, served my country for eight years, put myself through college doing construction work having learned the trade in the military, professional job (though evidently I don't make nearly as much as "Joe"), and I've never taken a handout from the government. Furthermore, we're a small business, so we're probably screwed under Obama, right?

I just happened to think that despite the fact that my hard earned money goes to those lazy bums, maybe some good will come of it, maybe someone who is born into a disadvantaged socio-economic situation might do some good for this country given the opportunity. They surely can't do any good if they don't.

...Not to mention that social inequities are a cause of most of our social problems. Crime, terrorism, these are manifestations of the frustrations endured by groups of people who have been kept down for generations for no other reason than that they have no opportunities to better themselves. And as I pointed out earlier, the cost of helping these folks get on their feet is minimal compared to the GOP's handouts to the rich.

Joe the I-Hate-Obama-He's-A-Socialist Plumber has been on welfare twice, gnawing at the public teet like the dutiful, suckling little Socialist he is.

But now that he has fallen on such great fortune, through his hard work and, as Sarah would put it, "good ol' American, ya know, workin' and stuff," and can afford to declare on national TV that he is about to purchase his own plumbing business (better get thet plumbin' license there, Joe), he wants to withhold the big fat public teet from other Americans in need.

Did John McCain require that everyone he surrounded himself with in his campaign be a hypocrite? Can you screen for hypocrisy? There must be some formula McCain knows that he's not sharing with us.

Okay, so Real Large? (Or is that: Real-ly Lacking-A-Rational-Grip on Everything?)

(That isn't how to spell teat...)

Didn't the Obaminite Supreme surround himself with CROOKS, RADICALS and SUBVERSIVES??? And didn't you choose to ignore THAT?

Who cares WHAT McCain did or didn't do?

(For real. Who really cares? Unless... You're afraid that Obama wasn't actually elligible to run for office, nor to sit as our prez... And then, TA-DA! Meet your newest prez ~ Joe Biden, the crook, swindler, liar, on and on. YOUR choice. YOUR vote.

    YOUR doom...)

Oh, yeah, thanx for inviting me to your Obaminite Kool-Aid party, but you know what? i believe i'll pass.

Well, y'know, "Joe" is a real American after all, so he deserves more than that other riff-raff in this country, right?

I hear he's going into politics, running on the white-supremist-skin-head ticket...

I wonder if Joe The Plumber ran the piping in his house with the same logic he uses for politics. If so, when he flushes the toilet, it would empty right back into his own sink.
