Johnny Depp wants to make film about Syd Barrett Pink Floyd

A movie about Syd would kick an unmeasurable about of ass. Im going to call all of my friends.

 

A movie about Syd would be crap. Syd is already too mainstream as it is. Then who will I have left to be snobby about? Kevin Ayers?

And if Johnny Depp plays Syd, then every chick around will be all like "oh my god Syd Barrett", and then Ill feel weird.

Just like when The Doors movie came out every chick in school was like "Jim Morrison blah blah blah." That put me off The Doors completely.

 

Johny depp is my favorite actor, and i know he used to be in a rock band, and syd barret's awesome, so cool!

 

Just because girls started liking jim morrison doesnt mean you dont have to like him. but i could see that getting annoying, they probably dont even listen to his music or read his poetry.

 

Yeh, well it would be totally different..just making an observation cos I would assume the film being made would also bee about his going crazy n all..probably more of movie though..less creative than how it was represented in The Wall!

I would go to see it just to see how accurately he makes it... I mean...I guess it would be okay to have Johnny Depp, but don't you think they could try someone who isn't very well known. Johnny Depp would be good becuase there would be a lot of people going JUST to see Johnny Depp, and they could also learn from the movie....but I'm not so sure if he could play the role right... But I would definitely go to see it!

I agree, but i was just pointing out that a lot of Roger Waters insperation for the insanity parts of the wall, came from first hand encounters with Syd and what he was going threw

 

i hope the film will be allright if johnny depp won't act like he did in fear and loathing. and i bet he won't because that guy is to good to fo that. offcourse syd will have more empty headed teenage girly fans than he has already, but some of the people who will discover him will look further and find this whole psychedelic world behind and there is nothing wrong with that

 

I don't know if this should happen. Syd was awesome and i'm sad for what happened to him but does the whole world need to see him go through it... please let him rest in peace.

on a side note, he died on my brother's b-day so that was weird.

I looked this up and wasn't able to find much but I apparently there is going to be a biopic of Syd Barret's life but Depp may or may not be in it.

I guess we'll find out at some point.

 

why not do gilmoure? he said he wants to do a guitar player gilmour has the better stuff on guitar.
