Melanie Safka, she played at woodstock, nobody remembers her though.

She was just Melanie in public though

Heres her site, she's still writing and singing.

Joan Baez sing better but Joni Mitchell write her own songs and record some classic album... something that Baez never does.

I like Joni Mitchell better... I hate Joan Baez, she deserved to be Dylans little bitch like he treated her ;)

Hehe, Melanie's cool. Momma Momma, Lay Down (Candles In The Rain) - gems.

Don't know much about either artist, but I do have Joan Baez's first album (original vinyl, $1 at my local charity store! yay!) and the songs are just gorgeous. Her voice is breathtaking.

Yes, I also love Melanie's music very much, but on topic I would say Joni Mitchell for the reason I don't know Joan Baez's music..

Yeah it was an amazing find... I guess people lump folk music in the daggy category these days (the rest of the stuff all seemed to be by James Last, Ray Conniff, Bert Kaempfert etc)

I've since changed my mind since making this thread. :D

Both of them were awesome singers, but Joni did write all of her own songs and imo was the better guitarist. Clouds is a really great album.
