I was taught to not just sit back & take it; the reason why they have so much power over what we do is because we LET them. I accept your opinion/facts, but I still believe what I believe & that is to go out & speak what needs to be spoken to everyone. Some people will agree, other will disagree. I`m not saying you have to agree with me, but I do feel that I should state what I feel in there because despite what others believe I feel that this is right. The government is NOT out for anyone, but themselves. They don`t care if soldiers are being killed, they`ll go ahead & send their children & other people`s children to war as long as they`re making any profit out of it. It`s all just a big ploy for money. America is a good country because it`s free, but the evil that is going on is not the least acceptable. Watch FOX news..... look at what they`re saying & reporting (they`re speaking of evil) about how gays are evil, about how we only have war because we`re prosperous & free. Watch Ron Paul videos on Youtube, & listen to what he`s saying. He`s speaking the truth about what the government is doing to America. It`s not the countries fault; it`s the dumbasses who run it. I think I`ll stay in America until I hear about any atomic bomb threats. I don`t want to live through any "dunk & cover" crap. eace: Thank you for the conversation though. I`m open to whatever you have to say.
That's highly specific, but I won't be getting my ass kicked by said hippies because I won't be "saying different" Ok, think for a minute of the original hippies. The vast majority of them joined the consumerist world, have corporate jobs that might be ethically questionable. Does that make them *not* hippies? They were the originals, that's where the word came from. It was the popular culture of their youth. Are they just not hippies anymore, or were they never "real" hippies? I have met very few people that seem to really live up to the hippie ideal (as I see it) and a few of them, when I got to know them, I found they just put on a good show. They really judged people and made fun of them, or objectified women, and just behaved in various unhippy ways. I agree with you that I'd like to see more shining examples of hippie love and acceptance. I just don't agree that people can't think of themselves as a hippie if they want to There must be something about themselves (be it smoking weed) that they identify with their mental image of "hippie" or something they see in the concept that rings of an ideal they'd like to live up to. Alls I'm saying is that if "hippie" is an *exclusive* group, it would simultaneously lose it's quality of acceptance.
My grandma is a hippy & she told me that the ones who "cleaned up" were the sell outs. They were only in it for the style, drugs, & rock n` roll. She said that her brother John, her husband, & she all protested & interviewed people like Abbie Hoffman (I think I spelled his name right) & actually tried to make a change. The people who actually peacefully protested their rights & helped other people, & tried to make the world more beautiful & peaceful for everyone were the true hippies. Not the ones who weren`t doing anything productive except getting fucked up on drugs & being complete assholes to each other. I don`t know. I just take my grandmother`s word, because of course.. she was & still is a hippy. :daisy:
I`m not arguing about being a hippy silly. If that were the case, I`d be screaming it out to everyone that I were. -in every reply I`d be saying... "I`m a hippy." "I would know because I`m a hippy." "If you don`t believe what I`m saying, you should.. because, well, I`m a hippy." lol I`m not a true hippy anyway, because I`m just the new generation of my ancestors who are/were(before they died).
I get what you're saying, and I don't entirely disagree with you. I also hold "hippie" in my mind as the true ideal for life. I just don't get down on people for not living up to my ideal I think what you really want is, not to decide who is and isn't a hippie, but to find some good hippie friends to love on :grouphug:
That is actually it. I want good hippy friends that I know are true about how they feel. People that will understand me, because most people who claim to be like me just think I`m a crazy tree hugger. I just want to live life peacefully with love flowing in & out of each of our beings & to gather together & help make a change for this world. It`s so beautiful & to enjoy it with others who know & understand the beautiful of it & the truth behind it all would be the best thing to see before I die. It`s really all I want, not even to judge others for what they are, but who they are within. My point from the very beginning was that if you`re claiming to be this loving & open minded, full of light type of person; let it show within. I`m tired of opening up to people about how I feel, just to be judged & argued with. I`m just looking for people to share ideas, opinion, & information with is all. Sorry for all the pointless rambling & petty arguing to get a point across. Thanks to all who were understanding. If anyone else would care to post, please let`s just drop the arguments & spread the love! eace:
Not telling you to change, I was taught never to sit back and take it either.. but standing up and fighting is different for different people.. yours is by protesting I guess.. standing up for me and has been years of confrontations and ass kicking.. because I know that I can't protest peacefully and you know what they say, it only takes one to ruin it for all :bobby:
Well, that`s fine. We all have different view points. Atleast you weren`t a complete asshole about it & we were able to hear each other out.
I just read this... that would be almost as annoying as people who have to constantly remind me that they're gay
I think since we live in the digital age and were all literate, we should make the best of it. That is the difference between our era now and life in the 15th century. Peasants were simply shuffled around in ignorance. We don't really have an excuse to be ignorant today. Knowledge is power. More people should be reading Plato and Lao Tzu than watching the Kardashians. Maybe its the fluoride in the water or the anti-depressants.
I'm not saying everyone watches it, but its sad that its as popular as it is. It shouldn't even be relevant, and it should have been canceled a long time ago, but the media can't seem to shut up about it. Its not that all people are stupid, just that there's enough stupidity to fuck it all up. I'm not trying to sound like a contentious, keyboard elitist either, even though I do. Its all about freeing our minds though. We need to keep trying, and there's a lot of manipulation and conditioning we need to transcend and get past.
There is a girl that acts JUST like that....... so be thankful that you dealt with me. I`ll stay open minded to anyone`s opinion because #1 it`s the best way to avoid conflict. #2 it shows respect. :daisy:
The Beatles changed a lot. Maybe not in the way you're thinking, but they definitely changed music. And John Lennon didn't change anything by spreading peace? No, the world didn't suddenly get peaceful because of John Lennon, but he helped us get closer. One more person who believes in peace can spread it to other people, who will spread it to more people... eace:eace:eace:eace:
I don't look like a stereotypical hippie at all. I have very short hair and I work out and look like a 240lb beast. Yet I believe in many of the ideals. True dreamers have discovered an entirely new paradigm of this world; just as someone discovering the Harry Potter magic world exists alongside our own existence. I think LSD and/or Psilocybin should be tried by almost everyone in a proper setting. I think opening the mind is critical to our evolution. I believe there is a difference between doing a psychedelic and having an experience on a psychedelic. (Many have smoked reggie or done LSD while on other stuff, to get messed up and only got paranoid or high). I think that wars have caused us more problems than they have solved. Marijuana is an herb which will only lead you to destruction if society forces a label on you because of it. I also believe that it's a very special gift to be given these insights. I feel sorry for the minds filled with hatred out there who cannot understand what we know. They may hate us, but we have discovered something magical.
I think a real hippie is someone who truly believes they are what they are. Nobody knows you more than you know yourself. If for example you one day felt like researching the early 1960s and the "Hippie Culture", what they stood up for, what they wore and how they expressed themselves and truly felt that you want to be that type of person - then do it. That doesn't make you a fake or a phony. The more you express what inspires you the more you learn about yourself and what you truly love. If you want to call yourself a hippie, then you are. There isn't any rules you need to follow or any people you need to listen to that allows you to do that. You can do what you want and don't let anyone tell you different, and don't let the judges make you feel uncomfortable. Do what you want and block out the rest.
Fake and phonie are what other people call you because you differ from what they think you should be if you happen to fall in the same scene/group/label they proclaim themselves to be in. I don't think it matters if this is done by a neonazi or a hippie, I'm unimpressed nevertheless. Probably became apathic of all these weedsmoking huh But seriously, you can have all the same ideals and not be a hippie or be a weed-smoking biker that doesn't give a shit about anything and be a hippie indeed. Not all hippies are like you.
