ok jdawg you work for a pharmacuticle comp. i got no problem with a man making a living what do you do for them? have you had a chance to read their financial statements? how mutch do they spend on addvertising? how mutch on r&d or is the r&d done at universities and other instituions and funded by the tax payers through goverment grants how mutch profit is enugh while they dangle the teatment in front of the poor dying cancer paitiont that cant afford it even after he helped finance it
i just think i'd rather not do that. I can't even sell ciggarettes in my friends shop. i just say no, wait till someone else comes. i was really put off my boyfriends dad when he said he works for an oil company. and uri geller locating oil for comapnies. its just the evil thing to do isn't it?! I know a 70 year old protester called jenny, and she still ties herself to the power stations every now and again, still, travels all over the place raising awareness on their schemes and lies. we talk about drugs and abuse, and useless packaging, but the reason i respct her becuause she has her own power to say whatever she likes. she isn't a hypocrite like me. and i aspire to be more like her, I know I couldn't be her friend if I worked for shell, or glaxo, or monsato. I doubt you'd make good friends there anyway.
[iQUOTE=cutelildeadbear]I work for one too. [/QUOTE]now i never said it was a bad thing i just wish they could do buissness withe the comppaission ive seen in your posts
sorry kandahar but at this point in time i cant direct you to any place to back up that statment but i will in the next few days check back about fri and ill try and have links i still dont know how to do that though so i have to type it out and i only type with one finger so please bear with me im not fighting just want the truth if im wrong i will concede
Sorry, I thought they were addressed to someone else. I don't know a whole lot about the innerworkings of the pharmaceutical industry, because I've only recently considered taking a job with one. As for your questions regarding how much is spent on R&D, advertising, etc: The latest data I can find from Merck Co. is from 2001, so I don't know if it's still accurate. I assume it's at least roughly accurate, and the other pharmaceutical companies probably spend in similar proportions to Merck. But according to the data I found (available at http://www.anrpt2001.com/financials.htm), Merck spends 77% of its total budget on the production of its drugs, 16% on marketing, and 7% on R&D. I couldn't find any figures of the implicit costs of providing drugs to third-world nations for free or at reduced costs, but Merck is often cited by consumer advocacy groups as an example of a company with good business ethics because of its charitable acts.
ooopps sorry kandahar the qestions were directed at jdawg but thanks for that bit of research im still trying to find the info on the statment i made i just cant remember were i read it. hey how do you put links in like that it would make my life a lot more fun rather than trying to type things out ??
I dispense your life enhancing and life saving products every day! Thank You! The pharmaceutical industry is under fire right now, mostly because of media and political reasons. It is always intersting when I have a patient who has refused medical treatment all their life, and, after they finally realize it is failing them, come to love their pharmaceuticals. . .
