"Fate" should not include someone stepping on them. It is extremely unkind of us humans to force them to keep up with our destructive and fast faced world. I don't think that lifting little insects (or even dropping them) harms them. I doubt that the force of gravity has a strong effect on them, since they are so light... especially in free fall.
I am in awe of nature and the things I have experienced while truly out in it. Some very terrifying things but some very beautiful stuff as well. In any case I am richer for those experiences and the bulk have come while having weapon in hand or at least scouting.
Agreed. But I'd still want it to be a dead TV - if it was in working order, I'd rather find someone who could use it. I hadn't lived in the states very long when I saw my first rattler basking on a dirt road. All I could think was "Oh, how cool" and I excitedly, I pointed it out to the people I was with. One of the girls immediately jumped in her truck and drove the wheel right over it. It's not often I feel like punching people but that was a time, right there. A coyote was singing to me last night about 2am. I love sleeping with the windows open.
i forgot about mice... i'll admit when my last apartment was infested i used spring traps to kill some of them. i have a feeling the ones i released outside probably made their way back in anyway
I don't have any reservations about killing insects when they're in my room, which I know is selfish.
Oh yeah, mice. Uhm, yeah I did kill quite a number a couple of summers ago when they moved into my house.
KC is a mouse killin biotch. she is so mean to mice. I however let them live. I am more sensitive than she is.
The idea is the moral value behind it, and I'm simply interested in the motives behind people's actions in this scenario. The fact that you do not understand what is being asked here does not speak highly of your reading comprehension. Neither does the fact that you think that I'm telling anyone how to live. Nowhere in this thread have I judged anyone for killing, only asked why they do it and stated my own views. If you're going to be an asshole, at least be good at it.
My reflexes are too slow so therefore I don't even bother swatting at things..I know what the outcome would be, me swatting at air...so I just carry on..as for the rest of what others are talking about I have no idea...and yeah...
That's pretty cool. I like how a hunt can bring someone much closer to nature. You learn to listen to it and understand it. Maybe I'll go out hunting one day... I know more than enough people who would gladly take me out.
Hell, I'd rather destroy a TV instead of givin' it to someone. Might save someone from some brain damage. Anyhow... yeah, people tend to be like that... we get lots of snakes at work, and my boss is a complete pussy when it comes to snakes, so he start swatting at them with whatever he can reach out of sheer panic. Ain't no tellin' him that it's just a harmless rat snake.
No, "fate" should not include that. But shit happens. Lets not call it "fate" lets rebrand it as "shit happens". I'm not quite sure about gravity, but would assume it can't be a lot of laughs being lifted/or dropped the equilivant of 5000 miles in the air. If nothing else it must give the poor blighters one hell of a headache.
You could have just said you were looking for moral justification behind ending an animals life. Do other people's motives really matter to you?
Ehh... I've tossed a couple of ants off buildings as a kid, and they ended up fine on the bottom... like nothing happened. I see daddy long leg spiders fall from the roof of my porch every once in a while, and they end up fine. I ain't gonna get into physics too much, but the gravitational force you create during free fall is dependent on your mass. The smaller you are, the more air resistance and such factors will play in. I even found this diagram:
i'd have no problem killing you i'd probably blast nine inch nails while doing it too but i never kill animals if i can avoid it, i don't normally kill bugs, i usually just let them be
No, they do not matter at all. I have absolutely no sense of curiosity and no interest in people, the nature of people, or the cultural and genetic impacts upon people's behavior.
I remember reading something ages ago which explained that because insects have almost neglible body mass, the air pressure has a sort of cushion effect as they fall and the impact doesn't affect them the same as it would a larger animal. <Edited to add> Yes, wot Sir Rubin said, while I wa typing that.
hmm .... stupid question then. nah. I'd answer your thread seriously but you've been a dick. Now I don't want to.
