    My thoughts exactly.

I'm not too concerned with pills, hookah bars, or a college scene, and I doubt at 30 I will be any more concerned.

The country area surrounding knoxville and potential jobs, in which I won't be taxed for state taxes, are what is drawing me in. We'll see...

We'll see if I get the job. I have an interview with the boarding school tonight.

We have high sales tax and medium income tax. We have wheel tax. We have tax on everything. The cost of living in Knoxville is about equal to the COL in Nashville (Music City) HIGH! Thing is, as I said, Knoxville is a big orange shithole.

So, if that's what your trying to evade, go elsewhere.

If you like Tennessee, check out Nashville (the only decent city here). Memphis is one of America's most dangerous cities as well. Chattanooga is ok but filled with ghettos.

I live 15 minutes from Lynchburg (home of Jack Daniels Whiskey) and it's amazing here. Our town is like Mayberry. However, the land is more expensive here due to the historical aspect of it.

The income tax seemingly is only federal income tax, no? I'll have to look into the sales tax and other tax mentioned. From what I've seen online, however, property tax is ridiculously low.

As for high cost of living, I live in fucking Hawaii. With the exception of a handful of places on the mainland, everything will seem cheap to me.

LMFAO.....You do realize the incomes are lower as well?

High cost of living + low incomes + medium to high income tax = Not worth it.

This is actually a really good idea.

Try the place out before buying land there.

The beau wants to be near mountains or the ocean, and while TN doesn't offer the latter, he's come to the conclusion he would rather have 10+ acres and a decent house in the mountains of somewhere such as TN than a quarter acre and a mobil home in California. Of course, I'm stoked about the horse idea. There's plenty of ads for decent horses that are being sold for next to nothing.

Medium to high income tax? Please tell me where you get that figure. Anyhow, between the two of us, we will have 3 paychecks coming in and zero mortgage. I guess you could say I'm not too worried, but thank you for the supposed economic lesson.

    I take it you're a youngin'.

Zero mortgage? Planning on stealing that land? Or gonna pay cash?

Land runs several thousands an acre here. Then you gotta build on it. $$$$

    Alright, have fun.

Have you ever taken a ASVAB test?.....Damn hard. I did well enough to be a 68W in the Army. Minimum score for that is 105. You only have to have a score of 35 to enlist.

Not that you really give a shit, but think bout it.

Yea I always figured tennessee for a dump and from what you’ve said it’s not to far off.

I’ve driven through it a few times but there's not much to see along the interstate [IMG]

I didn't take it in HS. If you did take it then, you didn't take the full test and that's a fact.

There are ASVAB prep test offered in HS which are only a small sample of the full 3 hour, 9 section test.
