Nah, I would not do that. That would be disrespectful to the family while they mourn the loss. I certainly would not raise children to look up to sports figures or actors, people they don’t actually know. I can respect a doctor for saving a life, but should I continue to respect him or her for sexually assaulting or molesting a patient?

no, I would not force anything, but would explain things, what you see on the screen is not who they are. It is a show. Role models are not on a screen.

 

From my experience growing up, like yeah, sure, mum and dad and family always a big thing but I don't really see my parents as a massive influence on how I grew up or why I'm into what I'm into.

Sports people on the other hand have played a huge influence on my life. When I was that young kid in the mid 90s seeing that rainbow warrior #24 car driven by Jeff Gordon, it was a turning point in my life unlike no other. It paved the way for my new life to come and I spent a good portion of my life waiting and waiting waiting to see him race and I managed to do that in 2015, actually watched him win a race at Martinsville.

Had it not been for sports people I probably would have no interest in America, but sports is life to me in a lot of ways.

Terrell Davis, famous Denver Bronco was also a huge influence on my life, Champ Bailey, the legend John Lynch, Bill Romanowski. It's all about aspirations, and these people inspired me to be who I am today and to not let anyone get in my way of what I want to achieve and up until now I've had a pretty good crack at that.

So while I get some people aren't into sports or sports stars, others are, and for many sports is an outlet from a shitty time in life of course people are going to find inspiration in players.

it is a show and finding something exciting is one thing, even admiring the talent... I get that. I have done my share of sports. But it is a show and not what the person is, who presents themselves in a certain way for the camera. Put him in the hall of fame. I don’t believe in icons! Sure there have been great actors, lawyers, doctors, artists. Their work is not who they are. Character is more important to me which you don’t truly see by watching sports.

Well transcripts of both their statements can be read. Do I believe she said no, yes. He said he heard her say it only once. He also said originally that it never happened. Then her blood was on his shirt. He admitted to strangling her, holding her by the neck for 5 minutes, If only he seen red by simply looking down. She was from a wealthy family and didn’t need money either, bruises on her neck and jaw were visible, which he admitted to causing. My only point here is he is not an icon. We also know that even though there was a ban on her name, his lawyer released her name in court at least 8 times and made it public. To which she had death threats afterwards and was horribly harassed while dealing with all this, by media and people. This is why she didn’t want to testify and a deal was struck. He had to make a statement, which was agreed could not be used against him in a civil suit. They went after her ex room mate who hated her to say what she was like as a room mate. It was ugly and brutal.

anyways, I simply don’t see this guy as an icon or a role model.
