based on this, i second dilla. and the "discovering" north america thing does not count as an achievement whatsoever. plus i think what you're doing is the same thing as what crazy conspirists do with numbers involving 9/11. and reading all your italian posts, reminded me this Kill Bill scene: Japanese Businessman: "Do you like Ferraris?" Go Go Yubari: "Ferraris... Italian trash. " [Japanese businessman giggles] Go Go Yubari: "Do you want to screw me?" [Japanese businessman giggles again] Go Go Yubari: "Don't laugh. Do you want to screw me, yes or no?" Japanese Businessman: "..Yes." [She stabs him in the stomach with a sword] Go Go Yubari: "How about now, big boy? Do you still wish to penetrate me?... Or is it I who has penetrated you?"
Yea, yea, yea, cause, ahem: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=385125&f=229 And sorry, as far as the last 510 years of history in the North and South America are concerned, America was "discovered" since at that point its history becomes solely dominated and responsive to European settlement.
sorry i posted a drunken thread that got blown WAY out of proportion. but still...italians and their smug attitude like yours suck. you aren't even REALLY italian. you may have heritage there but i mean, if you are gonna act like you stereotypical degs act, go the fuck back. if it's so great being italian, go where they might care to hear you stroke your wimpy ego at least i dont spout off about how much better "my people" are for doing shit i had NO hand in accomplishing suck it easy, kthx
i've always figured that a part of american patriotism is knowing your ancestors are from somewhere else and enjoying it while comparing notes with everyone else from different backgrounds and all feeling really sorry about that whole mess with the ones who found the usa first. but every time we get a new wave of immigrants everyone runs around screaming and panicking about the loss of the supposed american identity/melting pot which is now turning too italian/irish/polish/japanese/mexican blah blah blah.
sure i do. i just dont give enough of a fuck to flaunt my peoples' accomplishments, because at the end of the day i know that i'm better than you hahaha
How does discovering America not count as an achievement? No one is claiming that the Italians were the first ones there, and we are all well aware of the results of the Natives meeting the Europeans, but anyone who claims that sailing across uncharted seas in the name of exploration and discovery and finding an entire continent whose existence had been unknown to the entire western world isn't an achievement is just being contrary. It was something that required technological innovation, scientific cunning, adaptability, refined skills in navigation and a willingness to travel amidst sea serpents and edge-of-the-world waterfalls that led straight to hell, not to mention a keen sense of human curiosity and boundless spirited courage. Seriously, do you know how difficult and grueling it was to travel from Europe to America, even after America was discovered?
i'm not saying that neo...but if you want to get technical, i do believe the vikings discovered the americas first and if you want to get EXTRA technical you can blame the italians for raping the american natives of their land, life and liberties. thanks a lot you wop fucks! i just have an identity with who i am today. i have what i have and live where i live. im taking what i AM (not what my distant and most likely unrelated countrymen are) and am proud of that...thats my patriotism right there
First of all, perhaps the Vikings were "here first" in the same way that the Natives were - their foot may have struck American soil, but it didn't lead to the widespread knowledge that there was a massive, undiscovered land across a sea previously thought to contain the end of the world. And no, you can't blame the Italians for what happened to the Natives, at least not exclusively. It was a fundamental result of two societies at vastly different technological levels coming into contact for the first time, and that shame is something shared by all cultures who came here and did what they did, although the Spaniards acted particularly nasty.
And contrary to the popular opinion in this thread, I don't think there is anything wrong with patriotism, as long as it doesn't interfere with a humanitarian understanding that acceptance of all cultures and people around the world is necessary. There isn't anything wrong with pride if it is invested in the right place. If you have done something great then what is wrong with being proud of it? All this "pride is a sin" nonsense is just a guilt trip intended to keep people humble. But I think that humility is a prerequisite for bridled pride, it doesn't invalidate it.
nothing wrong with pride. i just dont give a fuck, and when typical italians get a boner over themselves, it makes me want them to discover a brick in their forehead is that a sin too?
If you honestly didn't give a fuck, then why would you want to bother smashing in their head with a brick? And why the focus on Italians? What about when Germans get a boner over themselves, or the English, or the Japanese?
they all suck too...i just have a soft spot in my heart for italians. i honestly don't see as many germans or english walking around spouting off how AWESOME it is to be english or german as i do see italians. and im not saying id be smashing their head...i don't know if i could carry that out. it just seems like they are great explorers, maybe they could explore their brains after an unfortunate fall or something.
'pride is a sin' is a Christian principle - you can do nothing that God hasn't given the ability to do and those who indulge themselves in pride will be suitably humbled - it's like karmic that way.
