Remember, there's nothing wrong with being proud of your country/heritage, it's when you think yours is empirically better when it becomes a problem.
Ahem, our brains took the rest of Europe out of the dark ages, after all those migrating tribes destroyed what our brains had created in the roman empire. Like shit, even the formula for concrete was lost for 1,500 years.
it bothers me cause i dont like hearing people jerk themselves, not because i specifically hate italians. it just so happens that many italians are guilty of being pompous fucks. see examples above.
Psht, that's just being proud since I have a connection to it. Arab culture specifically from the Levant is just as good as Italian, and don't tell Italians, but, food from the levant is in fact better
^word i guess i should be proud to be irish cause my people taught the world how to have a good time when you're drinking
nope, it's an equal analogy, there's a lot of things in life we don't choose but still defend, it's the feeling of connection and history.
Well, my post was discussing 'pride' which you chose to highlight. Don't know what the fuck you're talking about - something about defending your shitty family or something?
Because it is a part of who you are? Whether you choose it or not, it is still part of you and there isn't anything wrong with being proud of yourself.
'Pride' is a very interesting topic. (And emotion.) Pride = wickedness is Christian philosophuy sourcing a few examples from the bible (sorry to any who dislike hearing this stuff): Job 40:12 Look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand. Proverbs 21:4 Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin! Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace. Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him Psalms 147:6 The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. Proverbs 16:18-19 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Psalms 138:6 Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar. Luke 16:15 He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight." Isaiah 5:21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. Proverbs 18:12 Before his downfall a man's heart is proud. Isaiah 66:2 Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?" declares the LORD. 2 Corinthians 11:30 If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. 1 Peter 5:6 God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Proverbs 29:23 A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.
