The bold bit was my line... :D

Applespark was suggesting the that certain words of address are sexism, and suggesting it as "fact", IMO. Then she said it was just how she felt, and that there *are* other opinions.

I didn't ask her opinion on the other things. But anyway, alot of people who scream "sexism" *are* infact sexists themselves. (Once again, I dont know Applesparks views on all these different things).

The point is, you have no basis for the assumption that someone who uses the word "love"/ "darling" is a sexist. Its like saying someone with a red scarf is a sexist.

The point is that there is an inherent hypocrisy in the "feminist ideology" of some people, as there is in other ideologies. I chose to ask questions, but you've chosen to use blanket terms. And I dont quite follow what you assume I assume...

This wasnt a thread about sexism, because I didnt see any "sexist behaviour" IMO. Degrading and condescending is a separate topic from sexism.

If some big fat ugly woman pinches my arse or says "hello gorgeous", Im not gonna start crying to the Anti-Sexism Police. Nor am I gonna moan if some old lady says "thats a lovely tie, my dear" ( unless she tries to jump on me, obviously). WTF is wrong with that?

What we're getting is zealots rewriting the rules in Western society.
In one English school, skirts were banned for being "sexist".
Sorry but thats a load of fucking pigshit..!
    : )

OK I see u didnt use the word "sexism". But in England, the phrase "degrading to women" is synonymous with the phrase "being sexist towards women".

are... I dunno... what letter does it begin with? :D

My point was, it wasnt an issue of being "degrading to women"/ "sexist to women". Because the words(atleast the ones I vaguely remember) werent innately sexist or degrading to women(or men).

Maybe some of the incidents were degrading to people in general, but again, I didn't see the incidents. Here I'm thinking basically of people who treat customer service staff like shit etc. Which calling someone "honey" isnt part of, *if* its meant in a nice/ neutral way..

I mean saying the word "please" can be offensive, if its said in a sarcastic type way.

Does the word SOME not mean anything to you? Clearly I have blanketed no one group fully. Clearly if you read through I am not a sexist or a feminist. And clearly the world experiences things of this sort from women I just have not.

If you men want to add to the conversation and feel that you have maybe been cat called or talked down to by a customer in an inapropriate way ---> or not please let us know how it feels...

better? sheesh...panties be bunchin and I know they aint mine.

Yes, big picture is that much worse things can happen. No way would it make me upset, but rather kind of cringe a little. But you can call ME anything you want.....cuz I just like you that way.

If you are a man ( and not gay) I'm sure there are words and body language you do not want another man to use with you. We all have boundaries. Just as well as if I am a woman there are innaproprate things a woman can say or do to me. It does not make me a sexist to have personal boundaries of how I am treated by anyone.

What does being gay have to do with anything?
