Las Vegas Mass Shooting

Yea she made it out unharmed physcially but she said mentally she is pretty shaken. I was just watching some of the videos and it seemed to be very chaotic. Sucks the shooter took the easy way out and killed himself, though.

I live in a country where the vast majority of mass shootings are carried out by white men. But it isn't a white man problem or a muslim problem like people say every time the killer has a Muslim name. It is a human problem, a mental illness problem, a hatred problem..I don't really know what drives people to commit such horrific acts to be honest but it definitely isn't limited to one religion or race

Many of the deaths and injuries in situations like this are most likely not entirely from gunfire. I'll bet many were from panic and stampede.

 

I've been...stunned all morning. At what point is the well of human depravity going to run dry? At what point do we look at the overall state of mental health in this country and address it? If ever there was a time to begin serious discussions about true, free, universal healthcare, it is now.

And if these weapons were obtained through legal means, it's time to seriously look at our gun laws. And if they were obtained through illegal means, then we need to stop useless endeavors like the War on Drugs and start going after illegal arms dealers.

I praise President Trump for his unbiased response devoid of narcissistic remarks. But if there is anything that could nudge me to the left of the political spectrum, it's this. If free mental healthcare and stricter gun laws can prevent something like this from happening again, I'd be all for it. But the status quo isn't working. It's time for us to wake up.

It will be some lame reason like a girlfriend recently dumped him, or the government cut off some benefits or he couldnt afford some medical procedure, and somehow thats an excuse to fire into a crowd where he knew children would be present

Seems I'm wrong. I guess they're not banned. They should be, but they're not.

 

Saying a gun is "automatic" or not is like saying the bong is really for tobacco. People who use the thing know what it is for and why they want it. You just use language that allows that. Gun owners can and do modify a single fire gun to fire the entire clip with one pull of the trigger. The consider this their right. The whole debate about auto vs not is to distract people who do not understand guns. Meanwhile it means nothing really because they can make that gun do what they want even if you think they can not. They don't want the gun to "hunt" just like the bong will never see tobacco and they know it.

 

This is deplorable, there is no fix for this. A nutjob will always find a way to carryout some thing like this. Prayers to all touched by this tragedy.

Yeah I would think since this is such an American problem (mass shootings may occur in other countries but certainly not on the scale we see them here) that would indicate there is a solution to be found

I have a vacation planned to go to Vegas on Thursday.

No I'm not canceling. But I expect the vibe will be different.
