I am proud to say that I grew up in a black neighborhood somewhat for part of my growing up years and learned to move black, or was that innate,, anyway? I will never know really..... I am always told that i move like I am black when I dance......I take that as one huge compliment, too.....
I know some rednecks. I'm not a redneck by any definition but I'm ok with those guys. Some of the stereotypes about them are definitely true and some aren't but...the funny thing is....every true redneck that I know is proud to be called a redneck. One thing I love about them is that they will almost always help people for next to nothing. If I'm working on a piece of equipment and can't figure out the problem (and I'm pretty mechanically inclined) those fuckers will show up here with their own tools and figure it out just for the challenge. I love my redneck friends. They'd do almost anything for me.
Driving to Florida once, and going through Georgia....do you know that many of the rednecks in Georgia still have the confederate flag on their front porches or in their front yards waving around?
Rednecks in my area (up north) aren't like that. They just drink beer, shoot guns, have 4x4's and party. So pretty much just like me except none of them would say I'm one of them. Most people who know me would consider me more refined and intellectual but I'm just smart in different areas. Those guys are every bit as smart as anyone else.
right....I agree....am not putting anyone down...just found it strange about the flags....as I know what they represent....and not good towards blacks.
white people are a myth. people of european ancestory living in america, mistakenly and absurdly labeled "white" often by themselves, are EURO-AMERICANS, just like americans from africa are afro americans and people from asia are asian americans. the only legitimately non-hyphinated american is someone who's ancestors have been in the western hemisphere for more then ten thousand years i.e. "native-americans" who are the one ethnicity who DON'T need to be hyphinated. and yes, my ancestors, most of them came from europe and that makes me one of those euro-americans, although i also have at least one indiginous ancestor as well. a piece of paper is white. some cats, ferrets, dogs, rats and mice have white fur. nothing human has white skin. nor do most euro-americans come from azer bajzhan, that's the place south of russia and north of iran, where the caucases mountains are located. and i'm sure there are SOME fine people from there, but i'm pretty sure they're a real minority among us. please, lets dispense once and for all with this myth of there being any such thing as a "white" human person.
From what I understand, many of those that display the rebel flag are also those that believe the civil war was actually a war of "northern aggression" and had little to do with slavery.
they're mostly indiginous americans and thus just 'americans' too. though of course spain being in europe, makes spanish americans euro-americans. so i'm pretty sure one of the funniest things euro-americans do is call themselves white, or somehow turn things around to where some of them seem to think they belong here more then the people who already were. like wow, did people not know they were here, until someone else "discovered" them? that's what always got me in school with the argument over who discovered the western hemisphere furst, when its kind of pretty obvious it would have to have been the people who were already here. and yes of course that has to include people from south and central america and the carribian.
Who is macklemore?? My family has always made a game of counting confederate flags when we get into more rural parts of SC or GA. I dont get it. Its very much a part of the past some seem to be clinging onto as tightly as they can
Why do some refer to themselves in thier language as 'latnio' and 'latina' then? Because Spanish, Italian and Portuguese are all Latin based languages. Not true, the indigenous tribes of north and south America were more genetically related to Asians than anything else until the European invasion, then they gradually became mixed. Mexicans and many other Latinos are actually 'Mestizos', a mix of european (mostly spanish) and native heritage.
i did give credit to the latter. as to the linguistic thing, i believe that evolved from circumstance.
