i washed my hair with bicarb again today and my scalp is slightly weird.. its flaky (think its defo skin, not left over stuff that i didnt rinse properly) and its tender to touch on the top..what could be the prob, and whats a potential solution?

Well if it's dandruff then I would say tea tree oil or ACV. You're getting ready to start growing dreads again aren't you? Well anyway point is if you then do start growing dreads then you might not want to go with ACV as it's very softening, to start off with at least. So maybe adding tea tree oil to bicarb when you wash would maybe worth a try :)

    i already do

i do bicarb, sea salt and tea tree oil, mix it with waterrrrrr, whack it on me head

ive been using t-gel lately and its worked wonders for my dandruff, should i alternate t-gel washes with bicarb washes?

I've heard people using t-gel w/ their dreads. seems to work out for them. I found the bicarb and ttoil too harsh for my scalp, it dried it out and felt tight. I recommend a lush shampoo bar w/ cocoa butter, they smell great and condition but are residue free^_^

Lush uses SLS and/or Sodium Coco-Sulfate in their shampoo bars, neither are natural and both can leave residue.

Sodium Coco-Sulfate is an alternative to SLS/SLES. Yes, it is derived from coconuts, but it goes through multiple chemical processes to get it from coconut to shampoo ingredient.
It's like saying cocaine is all natural because it comes from cocoa leaves, but we all know there is a huge difference between the two.
The closest thing to all natural shampoo is a bar made with saponified oils, using lye as the chemical reactor.

    quote from:http://www.lush.ca/shop/products/hair/solid-shampoos
Solid shampoo is preservative-free, requires little packaging and lasts for ages. Take a bar on holiday and wash your body and clothes with it too. Most of our bars are sodium lauryl sulphate-free.

I don't understand why a shampoo bar needs SLS or sodium coco-sulfate? Liquid shampoos need them to create lather, but bar soaps can be made without these ingredients. Why use a potentially dangerous ingredient when there are safer options?

I currently use the Rasta Hemp shampoo bar from these guys:

I looked up the ingrediants before I bought my shampoo bars, I have two that I use. I was happy w/ the ingrediants and I'm happy w/ the way it leaves my hair.

If you looked up the ingredients, you should have known that Lush shampoo bars are not residue free, as you stated in your post.
I'm happy it works for you, but I felt I needed to point out the facts on this myth that Lush bars are natural or residue free.

I was told the one I have (new) is residue free by the lady in lush who has 9year old dreads. I just saw a post that you bleached your hair and dyed it purple. why do you wash w/ natural soap if your going to bleach it? not trying to be rude or anything, just wondering. before I used lush shampoo bars I used all natual shampoo from organic fairs, I found they definitely left residue in my hair and I feel totally clean when I use the lush bars.

yhe guy with the worlds longest dread (38 feet) washes his once a year...with laundrey detergent

soaps help or hinder only to a small degree anythuing can be used some will give better results then others
only conditioners really do much harm...and only very early on
