    Nice beads.

I was thinking of putting beads in some of mine to define them more, I tried some wood ones but they were too large for my smaller dreads. I was thinking of trying to make some peyote beads.

I am so having dread envy, my dreads look nothing like others, waiting stinks

my 1st beads were like none ive ever seen since, they were brass i think, well they tarnished grey/black not green, but they were so cool, 2 were bats, with theyre wings and legs wrapped around the dread, then 1 was whales swimming in like a spiral dance round the dread and another hammerhead sharke and the last 1 4 birds
they were just sio cool and unigue
the whale 1 stayed in longest and got lost juyst a few years ago
it lasted bouyt 12-14 years though

It's probably easy enough to buy rings with similar types of motif on them that may work as beads of sorts...?

Luxie thats so sad you lost your beads :( These ones will be staying I think. They are way better than I thought they would be for sure.

SE... I am going to be getting some gold wire to make my own spiral beads.... I used to make them a few years ago but have no supplies :(

I need to dip into my hemp stash too to see what I've got hidden in there!

    hemp rings work too

just a pointer on rings and wire
i used to do wirewrap jewlery and wrapped cr=ystalks to dreads alot
but with them they snag easily
ant rigs or wire type things will snag loose hairs unless theyre really smooth wedding band typle rings the lil hooks that hold stones can get hairs wedged under the ends of wires snag int o dreads and unravel
just satyuibg your best off with rings that have no way of catxching on anything as thin as a hair

Pics please! How do you wrap your dreads, and can you do this to natural dreads that aren't that well knotted?

    yup u can
theres 2 ways..speed wraps are temoporary and fall out after awhike
take several colors of string tie them aroing the roots leaving all but 1 collor hanging straight against the hair take 1 color and simply wrap wrap wrapo tightly awhile till u wanna swiitch colord then simply laty that against the hair and wrap next color
    ..

    they fallapart after awhile

more decorative and longer lasting uses macromet knots
same as before but u can use 1 or 2 colors looping though the other (hard to explain easirr to show) if u go 1 way u get straight lines the other way spirals eithe4r single or double
u can get fancier too but thats the basics and can last years

yah I just did speed wraps. I can do the others too(you could prolly find them on youtube)but I prefer the look of the simple ones and I just pop some beads or shells in them.I'll put up some pics later^-^the first ones I did when I first started my dreads, over 3mos ago kept realli well. they just unraveled in some sections and got a lil grubby.now they are all fresh and pretty again:)
