Can you do Northern Soul like the 4 step which is a favourite amongst the ladies ? But it is a male dominated dance scene with the guys trying to out better each other like peacocks .

You sound like a great all rounder . I was taught by one of my Ex Girlfriends who was studying the Arts at college at the time which included dancing. So I guess at the time I was her guinnea pig . Luckily for her , her parents lived in an old peoples home so we had access to a large hall just to ourselves. That green leotard she wore still brings pleasant memories . I was just into rock music back then and still am .She taught me Northern Soul and free style disco .

I later befriended some progress rock/hippy girls at the UMIST rock disco and they taught me how to move and mime to progressive rock which I believe is one of the most difficult forms of music to dance to .

 

That's the style I do which is the Shuffle . It involves a lot of freestyle . My partner does the 4 step which is more regimented .

 

We really should do a dance thread for all.
It might be fun.

Well it was only fair if she was just wearing a green leotard .Certainly not at the Cabaret Bar we frequented before these crappy lockdown rules . I would be dead meat from my partner .

TBH many of the guys often danced shirtless to Northern Soul so it wasn't that unusual .

You have just brought back another dancing memory from the Cabaret Bar that we go to. We were with this other couple who we ended up bumping into from a previous pub . She wore one of those full length body suit leotard thingies. I dare say they must have a name . She grabbed me up for a Jive . Honestly I never felt so uncomfortable in my life. I didn't know were to put my eyes. The DJ didn't help he just fell off his chair laughing. He was also laughing at the guys just drooling around us . Surprisingly enough my wife was Okay with it . I thought I would end up in the Dawghouse .

She has to put up with al lot TBH .She is great and love her to bits .

I keep saying, like a broken record sometimes , on the Relationship and Love and Sex threads that looks isn't everything . Dress, manners ,confidence ,body language and eye contact all have a bigger part to ply.

A big asset I have is that I am confident on the dance floor whilst many guys skulk around the edges .
