    Dear Nicolas,

i love you. your choice of recent movies kind of sucks, but you'll always have a place in my heart. don't listen to what these other people have to say, and the weatherman still remains one of my favorite movies!

    forever yours,
    WednesdayAfternoon

You never heard of Francis Ford Coppola?!

Director of the Godfather movies and Apocalypse Now; and Cage's uncle

Francis' dad was Carmine Coppola a composer (he did Apocalypse Now and Godfather pt III)
And Sofia Coppola is Francis' daughter (Cage's cousin), and a highly over-rated director of Maria Antoinette and Lost in Translation

Shit, kudos on the schooling; never knew and I think that's interesting. Great movies, those.

Have you ever seen Citizen Kane ?

I went to Francs Ford Coppola's winery in Napa Valley when I was younger :)
I have. Great movie. I felt like There Will Be Blood was kinda like a modern version of Citizen Kane :)

If you like Citizen Kane, maybe you'd like this White Stripes song:

    Dear Mr Cage,

Please release the real Mr Cage so he can continue making terrible movies with his one facial expression. You're not fooling anyone as it is obvious you are a wax copy wearing plastic hair.

    Love Ruski

    White Stripes!

I confess, I never saw C. Kane. But you know that somethings you have a lot of understanding and self assessed appreciation for without experiencing it? Well, this is one of those instances.

Do you watch that guy with the glasses aka the nostalgia critic? He did a review of this movie and explained how it's regarded as one of the most important films in the evolution of cinema. The camera angles, lighting, the general production and the suspense built in and around the antagonists using new revolutionary camera and editing techniques were explained with examples. I fell to mad respect for that movie without experiencing it. It's on my list.

Ebert said it's a personal, powerful experience seeing it for the first time, and how he wishes he could have a first time again. I feel this too, hearing Mozart symphonies as a kid I exploded insode and out and it changed me. I wish I can feel that again. Sort of like chasing that first high.

if you think Cage is anywhere close to a decent actor.....watch Bad Lieutenant. I've seen better acting in second class pornos. Eva Mendes is the only reason I watched the whole thing.

He's TERRIBLE when he's bad (Wicker Man), but he's absolutely, utterly, unbelievably amazing when he's good (Matchstick Men, Leaving Las Vegas, others I've already pointed out).

I liked con air and face off. Liked them a lot actually. But after watching Bad Lieutenant, I just can't go back. I can't even think of Val Kilmer the same. Shitty Shitty McShittermen that movie was

    Sorry, didn't see this earlier
I know what you mean, I was like that with the cannabis, and various movies; but sometimes, you are still surprised by how good it is, and less frequently, but once in a while; it's just plain disappointing.
You should give it a try :)

I need to see it again, myself, cause I don't trust my teenage opinions of things, as now I am much more astute and notice so much more subtlety.

But I remember the story being completely engrossing and the directing being perfect for each scene as being the reason it was.

Val Kilmer almost always suck, but there's those rare movies where he's awesome (Tombstone)

    Dear Mr.Cage,

People are disappointed with you, it seems. I don't care about it though. Since I never thought that highly about your acting, I can never say that I ever was disappointed when you would act poorly, because that would imply that I expected something better from you.

Best Wishes for your future career anyway,

    rak

    Dear Nicolas Cage

I thought you were alright in The Bad Lieutenant but Harvey Keitel was better, and in any case I'm glad they didn't give the role to David Tennant, or Neil Tennant from The Pet Shop Boys. Then it would have had to be called either the Bad Doctor or The Gay Pet Shop Owner.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. No need to respond, but if you do can I please have a signed copy of the jacket you wore in Wild at Heart? Can you also please change your name back to Nicolas Kim Coppola or stop grinning during movie awards ceremonies.

Thank you for this, I needed a good laugh!

And I agree, he should stop making movies. Adaptation is the last good thing that he was in.
