I think I have the real answer!

lithium used to be a hardcore grunge kid in the Nineties, and here is a snippet from his favourite song, 'Lithium'...

...so you see, lithium is in fact a secret worshipper of the Almighty, though he proclaims so vehemently to be an atheist.

    Elementary, my dear Watson.

He wasn't dressing up wearing a dogs collar is his normal attire - those clothes you see him wearing at festivals is Lithiums idea of fancy dress.

I last went to visit my lovely friend Claire in Yorkshire in July... I suppose that's the nearest to a holiday I've had in a while. A particular highlight was going to the National Museum of Coal. I still have my lump of coal proudly displayed!

how many cups of tea have you in your life?
Do you regret such hasty drug taking?
    Do you own a teacup?
    Tea cosy?
Is your tea cosy, actually cosy?
How did you work it out?

i am aware i am replying to a very old post..what was i even doing back in 2006?? anyway...

i had to respond to this whole move on from the past/leave it all behind etc of yours. just wrote a long post to somone else on here (which was also a little about what you say in the 2nd half of your post...well sort of!!) so this is my short version reply to you...bollox!!!

    are you friggin kiddin me???
we should just forget about janis/jimmy/the stones (i know they're still goin now but i liked them back in the day before they became dad rock...) pink floyd??/stevie winwood...traffic & mr fantasy bit of a tripped out hippy fave of mine!!/led zep??? oh please behave...all from a bygone era according to you??? current musical faves incl the gossip/elbow/starsailor/arctic monkeys among many others...so i don't NOT keep up with & appreciate new music & bands but would never just stop being in to the rock of the 60/70's either. thats my main taste i suppose/bit of a hippy chick at heart still...though don't wear the uniform...never really did...far more likely a little black dress & heels...well NOT so little now...i'm 42!! FFS!! i'll show off a bit of leg & a little cleavage...but thats it!! though i do like a long floaty maxi dress in the summer (btw they've been 'back in' for a few seasons now...OK??!! LOL)

not sure you really get the concept of fashion victim (think Posh/Beckhams with their cheque book fashion...) as for tragic re music from the past?? i could say i can't stand ppl who feel they have to change their tastes in music/clothes to suit others or even to suit the time/place...but i won't...being a hippy chick & all i'll just say...live & let live instead :)

as for 2nd half of your post...won't even go there...as i know your post is a few yrs old & i got in to a debate re religion & science not long ago on a diff forum that lasted several wks with LOTS of posts...mostly huge ones LOL... i would say my fellow poster was just as rational minded as you when it came to religion vs science...so huge shift when he finally 'caved' & admitted THE TRUTH...that he couldn't say absolutely for certain that there was NO god/NO 'something else' other than us/NO higher being etc etc. none of us really know either way...so you can never really say i believe in this or this 100% & this is THE TRUTH thats just dangerous thinking (yes i know i just did above but that was just for emphasis!! LOL) you have to leave mind open (just a smidge...) to the concept of 'WHAT IF....'

faith wise...open to all...don't follow a specific religion...always liked buddhist teaching & take on life...& recently very drawn to teachings of the Chabad philosophy...

to the question what happens after we die...

The Lubavitcher Rebbe would often point out that a basic law of physics (known as the First Law of Thermodynamics) is that no energy is ever "lost" or destroyed; it only assumes another form. If such is the case with physical energy, how much more so a spiritual entity such as the soul, whose existence is not limited by time and space nor any of the other delineators of the physical state. Certainly, the spiritual energy that in the human being is the source of sight and hearing, emotion and intellect, will and consciousness does not cease to exist merely because the physical body has ceased to function; rather, it passes from one form of existence (physical life as expressed and acted via the body) to a higher, exclusively spiritual form of existence.

see...a little of religion & science combined!! i believe in the theory of the Big Bang & that it formed our universe...but for me though it comes back to the same enigma (sort of...) whether you approach the question of whats it all about/where did we come from blahblahblah...from a scientific or religious stand point...we're left with the same unanswerable question...

    WHAT CAME BEFORE???

i mean if god made the universe who made god??

if the big bang caused the creation of our whole solar system & the infinite/finite?? (who knows??!!) universe...what came before the big bang??? what made the big bang 'BANG' so to speak...where did the pressure of gases & particles come from?? maybe one big bang brings an end to one universe as it simultaneously creates a new one?? implosion/explosion?? contraction/expansion?? like the hindu god shiva...god of destruction & re-creation...well just a thought...of course i would never say i believe it 100%!!

^^ I believe in being open to spirituality as well.

The scientific doctrine can be just as intoxicating and overpowering as any religious one,

and the danger of becoming a scientific zealot is that you lose your soul and your humanity.
