I feel like my life is the best it's ever been. I have good memories of old times, but I wouldn't want to go back. All the most important things are better now.

People used to assume that everyone would gain weight over the years, have kids, stop doing fun things, but times have changed. You can do whatever you want.

If they made 'em, I'd totally buy action figurines of the custom kitchen deliverymen characters from the Dire Straits music video Money For Nothing.

That ain't workin' that's the way you do it

I feel like this is pretty accurate really.

I also feel that, even probably your generation which is a funner generation than my elders, by the time I get to like 60.. man we are going to be some fruit loop old bats I tell you hwat. :D
I agree, we'll be doing whatever we want and I guess not having children is going to help that.
You know, I look at my friends now, well mostly I look at them as past friends.. the ones married, children etc. and it hurts for me to say but to these people, I offer nothing anymore. Sure, I'm good for a laugh, a drink, a smoke.. maybe even personal stuff.. but you know what I'm not good for? Children. I find that all my friend who have had children now only remain with friends that also have children while I feel like I am being phased out of their friendships. That's fine and dandy, it hurts, it churns my guts a little I admit, but I am fine with it. To them I just want to say "well when your kids are grown and you now want your fun and life back, don't be looking my way because baby, I'm loooong gone" and that's how I feel about it too. It sickens me to feel so discriminated against because I don't have children. :D but while they're out buying diapers, I'm out having fun. ;)

First, I'd like to address Karen's statement about life being the best its ever been. I don't know about best (it ties for best anyway) but I'm really at the stage of my life where I feel the most peace I've ever had - with everything. As far as how my life has turned out... I would never in a million years have thought my life would be like this nor would I have chosen this...but being here, in this life of mine, I honestly feel certain that I am on the path I am supposed to be on. I can't begin to explain how good that feels down inside. I hope that makes sense.

Getting old(er) does not mean stopping or even slowing down with the fun things in life at all. In fact, old(er) age has made me NOT put off things that I wanted to do but would procrastinate, wait for another time, another day. Old person meditation even seems better, more fruitful. It has revealed things to me I am able to accept and even welcome, whereas I wouldn't have felt the same way years ago. I have found I'm able to have lots of fun without being stupid risky, something I would have scoffed at in my past.

Irmi, I so hate it that your friends with kids haven't seen what a creative and wonderful soul you are and how fantastic you would be around their children. I think you would be a terrific influence. I'm certain you work with kids some when you do the work at the hostel with horses. However, if they want to act like that, it is their loss...the kid's loss too. I think you'd be great around kids!

I never shunned or weeded out any friend that didn't have kids just because they didn't have kids when my son was growing up. Only those people that wouldn't respect that there are things common sense stops you from saying and/or doing around a young person would get quickly weeded out.

I can relate somewhat to what you are talking about as far as not being included in things when I would be single and my female friends would be part of a couple. They would suddenly never have time for me, would shun me and similar. Such as they would go out to bars that we all would go to and then suddenly when they were a couple, I would never be invited...but I'd see these people when I'd go out alone! At a bar or similar, there are numerous single people right along with couples! Anyway, I'd be nice but I'd be hurt at the same time, I'd be screw that shit. I still don't understand that thinking...but I was glad to see it for what it was. Then later when these same bitches were single again, they would want to be all "what's up girl?! we ought to DO something"...I was "well...I've got plans...sorry :p" lol When I allow myself, I still remember that feel of the sting of being rejected and/or just made to feel I "wasn't quite right for them" when I was without a mate and they were "with mate"...but I don't feel it but a second because most are worn out looking gals, many miserable still with their "special" man (haha) or back on the prowl because they can't be happy alone for a minute.

Its refreshing to look back and see that I have no regrets AND I'm at total peace (if sometimes aggravated :D ) where I am now.

Woke up to a phone call this morning from my credit union. Debit account frozen cause like $700 of fraudulent charges were made on it yesterday.

YAY. I have fucking $6 in cash too. I keep everything in my checking. So I literally have no fucking money as my debit account is frozen. The credit union I use is located in NY (as that's where I used to live) and I now live in CO and they don't have this credit union out here so I can't walk in and withdraw cash in person off my account.

So now I have to fill out all this fraudulent charges paperwork, submit that and wait 7-10 business days for a new debit card. I had to call a friend back in NY this morning and have him wire me money just so I have money for like the next two weeks.

    Lovely.

Chad, so apparently someone got hold of your credit card info? Is it an identity theft thing...as I type that I'm not sure I know the difference between the 2 - except I guess theft identity would get much larger than the credit card stuff.

    What do you think happened???

That's awful. I'm glad you have a good buddy to wire you some money.

edit: I meant debit card rather than credit card.

I am not sure! I did not lose my physical card and I have not used it for any online purchases in probably about 3 weeks now.

The only places I've been using it are at stores and ATM's. I'm thinking somebody got it at point of sale somewhere, somehow. I know people will sit in their cars with a little custom scanner device and grab point of sale and ATM information in real time as people are inside using it, so I'm thinking it must be something like that.

I don't enter much sensitive information online and I actually run a pretty tight ship with my data security online. Whenever making a purchase I always verify the encryption algorithm and certificate are good and up to date for that site, my passwords are super complex and different for everything etc. But again I haven't made an online purchase in weeks, leading me to believe this occurred somehow, somewhere at one of the stores or ATM's I've visited recently.

Hundreds of dollars to "franklincovey". Apparently the guy is buying expensive ass leather briefcases and shit.

Fucking so annoying. I also just did a full comprehensive sweep of my computer; it didn't turn up any blatant issues or potential points of compromise.

Also tons of money to "aliexpress".

"AliExpress is a large online retailer of various products from China."

ah hell...that would make me sick too. This is going to be loads of trouble for you.

It does sound just like what I see on tv - where people have this little scanning device that they use simply by pointing it at your card and it will get the info. It shows this Extra Special wallet that stops that type of scanning device from working. However, I've always wondered what if someone is using it, pointing it at you/your card WHILE you are using it, rather than when it is in your unprotected wallet. I'm also not sure I believe it about them getting the info when it is in your wallet as you walk past.

edit: so sorry to hear about you having to go through this.

Yeah I've seen the same thing but like you said, I think it defeats the purpose cause you still have to take it out, use it and enter your PIN at the point of sale.

My card has that new chip in it too. But only some places actually make you use that new chip at this point (i.e. swipe your card, then insert it the other way and let it read the chip). I've probably only used it that way on 3-5 terminals. Most still have you just swiping it in the classical way.

I got a form from the credit union I have to fill out. But the fraudulent charges are still "pending" being formally posted to my account. Meaning the merchant or whatever hasn't officially processed them and deducted it, just put pending charges on the account. Apparently those charges should be "officially" posted and deducted within 3 days and then I submit this form with all the fraudulent charges and whatnot. Who knows how fucking long it'll take to get that money back.

It's a Visa debit card though and Visa will obviously eat any fraudulent charges

The politcal ads are already starting. In a few months every commercial break will have 1 or 2 for each guy. When is an election ever over? The second this one is done they will talk 2020. I mute every single one. I didn't actuly hear one in 2012 but it took a lot of effort for months.

Being a parent is a big, demanding job, so I don't take it too personally when friends who are parents seem very busy. They made a lifestyle decision, and now they're living with the consequences. They're doing the job in whatever way they think is right.

Some of my old friends now have kids that are old enough that they no longer require constant attention, so their parents are starting to find some spare time again. Some of them have completely forgotten how to have a good time and have become total bores, but not all of them are like that. I'm not holding anything from the past against them. But if they want to tag along on one of my adventures, they better be able to keep up! I won't be slowing down for them.

was going to go to the dinosaurs alive thing at the convention center, then thought its going to nothing but a bunch of sniffling screaming brats. They should have an adults only time. I guess promoters dont think of things like that.. idiots ..

My bank card has a chip and anything over 100€ I need to enter the pin for otherwise I can just scan the card chip. At first i thought it was stupid etc. but I've had two cards now fail, and it really irritating when you have to swipe and enter your pin. :D

Hrmm, I agree and I think museums should have night time arrangements for the adults.

When we did the zoo nights the first night was kids night. At least 3 of us couples got together on night two and had a big old fashioned whinge about it. :D

A couple of years ago we went to an Aztec/Mayan museum expo and there were so many people and it wasn't opening week or anything. We breezed through in like half an hour maybe, we weren't able to read any of the information, just so many people there it was really disappointing. We told ourselves we'd start doing these things. We haven't done one since.
