I think it's very sad that a bunch of entertainers have to band together to raise awareness and money to combat something that ALL our governments KNOW exists.

Fancy that. Good ol' Al wants us to make sacrifices to our daily routines while he continues to ride around in his private jet and enjoy the luxury of three or four mansions, each one consuming more in one week than most families consume in a year. Gore is a huge hypocrite.

Yah, an inconvient truth to whom? Certinitly not Gore and his lavish lifestyle.

its ok theyll leave you alone. sometimes people have to understand that u have to take a stance in political acts like this no matter whether you completely agree with them or not. that is being fuckign stubborn and immature if you dont eventually learn to cooperate with your friends in order to stop global warming.

Haven't read the whole thread so don't know if this has been posted but the sponsors (including Pepsi, Coca Cola, Phillips) are global corporations who ship things round the planet that could be made locally and have done untold damage to the environment for the sake of a few $$$. And does no-one see the irony in their online coverage being sponsored by a car manufacturer??? (Chevy). Fuck, that really shows where priorities are in money vs. ethics. I don't need some energy wasting self important rockstar to tell me what damage excessive power consumption is doing to the planet. It's an ego massaging excersise where the ones using the most energy get to pat each other on the back and tell each other what a great job they're doing informing us, the ignorant populace.

    interesting article here: http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2007/07/375349.html

Is it really? Who paid the marketing team that put this whole thing together, who paid for all of Gore's appearances on news programs?

This is the type of attitude that got us into Iraq. They marketed that too.

Fuck that. Who the hell are you to tell anyone to keep their opinions to themselves? If folks like you can ramble on, than people can feel just as free to disagree with your half baked (at best) arguements. Got it mr. thought police? Fuck it! Just because a view is opposed to your own, doesn't make it ignorant.

I agree with Gardner, that type of reasoning is still to prelevenant in the world at large and needs to stop NOW!

the ironic thing about live earth is that the artists who were performing traveled via airplane. if people cared about the environment then they'd take bigger steps to help the environment instead of paying top dollar to hypocritical political leaders.

How does Gore's hypocricy (or lack of it) relate to what I (or anyone else) does in regard to environmentalism?

Isn't the accuracy of what the film says more important than what Gore does personaly?

The person that takes credit for the film and wins an academy award continues to live an environmently unsound life style and you don't question the accuracy of the film? Sorry but I think there is really a problem with that reasoning.

It's right up there with thinking Iraq had something to do with 09/11, and they had WMD. Got a bridge I could sell you.

Gee, I sure am inspired and uplifted by a post such as this -- NOT!

There's no use talking to people who can only "think" on such a level. Musicians can do a lot to raise awareness of environmental issues and change lifetstyles of dedicated fans.

i personally believe global warming is a huge threat. i choose not to get a car when all my friends are getting theres and instead ride a bike. but the issue at stake here is whether or not LiveEarth actually did anything to help.

i personally do not think it did a whole lot to help the movement. the peopel who are going to tune in are probably already on board. they did not have many artists who actually addressed anything regarding Global Warming. And all the lights, sound equipment, etc. probably created a lot of carbon. all of this just makes me feel that its being done as political or publicity stunt.

now dont get me wrong. i like al gore and i think he made a wonderful documentary. i just disagree with how this was put to gether.

The causeis good but its gore that pisses me off, not only the fossil fuels to power his concerts, but also his two mansions, couple of cars, and (i think)he rode a helicopter to the academy awards. other than that its all good. Save the whales. So iguess i gotta say that this live earth can suck mah balls.

Muscians and media can raise awareness, but only when they haven't been bought in advance.

Woodstock wasn't bought. It happened, and Park Avenue didn't have a chance to take advantage of it. They thought hippies had no buying power.

Gore and his Inconvenient Truth Know what's inconvenient about it? that it didn't elect Gore, and hopefully it won't allow him to select this national candidate.

Stop and think people for yourselves. Don't buy the spin slogans. Look at your own lives and ask for answers.
