I don't think they use shona in SA in zim ja, my dads slang used to be incomprehensible to non natives, mixture of english, shona and afrikaans but a lotta african words get incorporated....which rocks
yeah, i was talking about zimbabwe. well it's in the south of africa, too... i have a friend speaks the same as your dad... maybe i used to speak like that, too... 16 years ago...
my dads speech is normal again hahaha....but he was in the police for 5 years and when your entire team is black and talking in shona you learn to understand quite quickly is your friend still in zim?
his parents are gonna leave soon, too... sometimes i wish i still lived there. because it was the most beautiful place... the nature was amazing... too bad i can't remember lots of things..
zimbabwe is the most beautiful place, the whole of southern africa is just stunning... something about africa just creeps into your soul and dinnae let go everybody whose ever lived/got connections feels so connected
haha... yes. i just hope i'll be able to see it again... i'm gonna try to find my photos from zimbabwe... i have really cute ones with me as a blonde baby who sits near the victoria falls...
Sure do. Well, in Texas...And we also pronounced "saw" with an L at the end instead of the usual W sound. People here say "out and about" all the time, but it's more like "oat and aboat." Uhh...there's a lot of slang with the hurricanes. Really weak ones we call mulletblows. Molletbloaws, more the like. In West Texas, they say "coyoat" instead of coyotEE.
I went there as a cute blonde baby !! I love pictures from zim, even though they depress me at the same time
I never lived in zim my folks left just before I was born....but i've spent so much time out there, besides africa is home regardless of my birthplace....I think 186 years of my family in africa qualifies me to say that
