i dont like walking barefoot, not outside anyway. they get filthy, and you can cut yourself on glass, and god knows what.
I'm not having a go at you, but the dirty foot argument always makes me laugh. People never worry about getting their hands dirty, and don't put on gloves when ever they touch something so that they don't get dirty. Hands can be washed of cource, but so can feet. Anyway, people are also happy to touch things like food with their hands, and even put their fingers in their mouthes, yet most people wouldn't put their feet anywhere near food or their mouthes (whether they like to put other peoples feet in their mouthes is a different matter ). Of cource its up to you though. Quite a lot of people actually enjoy having or seeing dirty feet, often as a fettish thing, but also often simply as it distinguishes the casual barefooter from the serious barefooter. The subject of cutting yourself is in some ways similar, since again people go near sharp things with their hands, and don't often get cut, even if they touch the sharp things. The reason of cource is that the skin on hands tends to be quite tough. The skin on feet on the other hand (or is that foot) is much less tough in comparision, but only because people keep them in shoes all the time. You're hands would be un-tough and easily cut if you wore protective gloves all the time, but they get tough through use, and feet are the same, and since barefeet get abused more than hands, they will get even tougher. The key is just to gradually build up the abuse as you feet toughen, and eventually they should take pretty much anything. Sadly the amount of rubbish around on pavements etc does take some of the fun out of going barefoot, at least until you can be confidant you feet can take it, but its always good to keep a look out where you are going and scan the ground ahead for anything you don't want to tread on (most stuff thats going to cause problems is going to be visable from some distance), and the times when you step around. The fact that you are aware of what you might tread on also helps you to avoid stepping on plants and that sort of thing, and also can be a good source of income as you are more likely to see money dropped on the floor .
my feet are usually dirty, i have gone plenty of places barefoot, mostly outdoor events, county fairs, local carnivals, the movie theatre, flea markets. doesnt matter to me.
I managed two months straight in July/August 2003. It was a blazing hot summer and I was 'between jobs'. Only had a backpack and a tent. Lovely time was had in the southwest of England. By the time I went to a festival at the end of August I could walk on thistles no problem! ~
Since no one is afraid of me being barefoot at work, the last summer I was barefoot (=I went out without carrying them with me) for at least two full weeks, maybe more. But I still spend most of my time barefoot, all year round.
i think maybe 2 weeks in the summer, its not that long but i couldnt go any longer because my parents were always bothering me about it, having conservative parents is quite annoying.
Longest time barefoot for me was almost exactly 3 months one summer when I had a job that let me go barefoot whenever i wanted (a very cool bookstore). I've gone as long as a year without ever putting on more than flipflops, but 3 months was the longest time of pure barefooting.
Just wear the shoes till youre out of their sight and just take em off. Either that or just get your parents to accept the fact that you like to go barefoot im sure youre old enough for them to learn to respect your wishes in that reguard, it is after all your body.
It looks like that bookshops are very barefoot friendly. I've been working for three years, during summer, in a bookstore here, and after the first month I forgot my shoes at home until october. The boss noticed this but it was OK for her, "It's your lifestyle, there's nothing to worry about." In fact after three years I've grown accustomed to go out barefoot, and I mean carrying no shoes with me even in winter, when temperature drops under 0 C°.
Well, knock on wood, but I think I've made it through the winter So it'll probably be some time next winter before I may have to wear footwear again... Only thing I did yesterday was fit three pairs of old boots I had still laying around in the attic from all those years ago -I wanted to keep a pair of closed shoes just in case we get a *really* cold winter (it does get below 0F -more than -20C- occasionally, although it's rare) and I kept the pair that had the most toe-room, the others are going to the thrift store today w/a bunch of other stuff I am throwing out. But I didn't walk in them & only tried on the right one, too
haha, one time my neighbours saw me with one single boot on because I had to turn on the engine of my motorcycle (600cc) by pedal after a long inactivity. Later I discovered that I was able to operate the iron pedal even with my bare foot with no harm. In fact once I believed that this was beyond the realm of human (foot) capabilities...
they've actually come to accept who i am more. they really arent that conservative, but just dont like the fact that my feet are touching the ground and can pick up "diseases" as they say.
during summer, usually from the last day of school to the first day of going to back, i have been barefoot most of the summer. where i live its considered normal, since its a naturist campground/mobile home park.
