Frankly, IMO rasneesh was a nut case and a charlatan. So I don't think we should take anything he said seriously. As to 'the disease of homosexuality' - I don't think it is a disease as I said previously. Perhaps the disease is in societies which can't integrate gay people in an harmonious way. I know several gay men, and the idea of them forcing themselves on anyone is laughable. If you want to discuss rape, that is a separate issue. As I pointed out before, in the UK we have top policemen now who are openly gay. I too know little about Hinduism and Gays. But I fear that probably, the usual homophobia reigns in most schools of Hinduism.
We don't know what Krishna actually looked like. Images from Indian art are all more or less stylized and heiratical - often Krishna is shown with distinctly femminine characteristics. However - where bi and gay people are concerned, you can't tell by looking in the majority of cases.
Good. Go figure that one out yourself, first, while the starving, homeless guy lies in the gutter because people are so caught up debating whether Krishna was gay, lesbian, virile or not.
There's already far too many human beings in the world as it is, and the global population is set to explode during the coming century, so I don't think we need to worry too much about that. But with modern scientific methods, and surrogate motherhood, gays can have kids if they want.
I guess, it is if you get so caught up and attached to whatever you're reading but don't apply it. For example, one may know all the 108 names of Krishna, but ignores his brother in distress. What's the point?
Oh yeah, how can I forget science. The wonderful ways that modern scientific methods can help us, save us, etc. etc... Now, this thread is beginning to be funny.
The idea that sex is for procreation only is really a nonsense as applied to human beings. We all know that it's much more than that. But even if one were to adopt that attitude, you'd have to condem hetrosexual sex which isn't aimed at procreation just as much as gay sex. I think this issue is related to other issues of a social nature which have come to the fore over the last decades - attitudes to women for example as held by trad religions are/were equally as insane as attitudes towards gays. I agree 100% that everyone is basically the same, regardless of gender, sexual preferences or whatever. The structure of organized religion should reflect that. Otherwise, it can easily become a source of further division and hate in society. The old attitudes towards gays are reminiscent of attitudes to witchcraft - without any basis other than prejudice and fear of anything or anyone who is different. Just to add, I was recently sickened by seeing on TV an Islamist preacher saying 'take that homosexual man and throw him off a mountain'. In my opinion, the said preacher should now be behind bars, or at least prevented from spreading this message of hate any further.
No point whatsoever, and according to your last statement, a waste of time to read in the first place, as all these bookls are the productions of tiny human minds.
I don't know how you can forget science when you are using a computer, one of the productions of science to try to put across your views. If you don't like science, just leave it alone and go back to the stone age.
Science will not solve all problems. Perhaps, it is you with your backward way of thinking, who still live in the Stone Age.
My conclusion is that Chief Cowpie is actually one of the more interesting posters here. Those new to the chief shouod not imagine he's speaking from a position of ignorance. Few people have posted as much interesting factual material here as he has done over a long period of time. Myself, I like the Chief/Molly -
Well, Im inclined to say fuck you - but that would be rude, so we'll leave it at that. If you casn't come up with a consistent argument and leave off personal attacks, I'd just quit this if I were you.
Osho is a mystic and philosopher of a very high order. I have read many of his works. I definetely do not agree with some of his theories as I feel it is impracticable. But most of his teachings and messages are very good. Qualified personnel who did a critical review of his works pointed out to profound psychological and philosophical points made by him while also criticising him. From reading his works I know that he is not a nut case. As I said, I do not agree with him, but some of his points are very good. His meditation techniques and books are very popular all over the world . I believe the thing to do, is to study his works with a detached and logical mind, and assimilate what is good and worthwhile and reject the rest. Well, I think it could be some kind of disease or physical aberration , which can be corrected. There seems to be no evolutionary reason for homosexuality, and it is clearly unnatural, as they cannot procreate. There are no homosexuals among animals as well. I have nothing against homosexuals , but compassion for them. Well, I have to disagree with you from my own personal experience and that of my friends who were good looking when we were kids. Luckily I escaped from two of these guys before matters became worse , on two seperate occasions. And on what evidence are you stating that ?
Every problem should be resolved, and everything has its importance. Many homosexuals were killed and beaten up because of their sexual preferences. Perhaps you can do something to make life a bit easier for them , just like the homeless guy in the gutter.
Oh dear. Is that what comes out of your mouth during devotional prayers to Krsna? :& That would be quite embarrassing. Hmmm... If you don't consider telling me to fuck off, as a personal attack, then it proves that it is really you who still live in the Stone Age. LoL.
We'll have to differ on that. I know people who were involved with bhagavan back in the Poona ashram days of the 70's, and frankly the thing was just a joke aimed at rich middle class western kids. Sorry to disabuse you of your erroneous opinion here, but I myself have seen homosexuality between male rabbits. I hope your not among those who can't discriminate between gays and paedophiles. Only my limited experience with ISKCON. But I said I don't know - my idea that homophobia is probably widespread is purely conjectural.
No - I only say things like that when responding to un justified attacks from morons. What makes you think I say devotional prayers anyway?
Bill, feel the same way here...in an earlier post I said that I considered the Chief to be a good, well meaning person. He does have a markedly unique style, especially in Molly mode...and this style can sometimes be off-putting. I guess my intention in commenting candidly on the Chief's style was to let new folks here in on it, so they wouldn't take his comments as personal jabs...because he doesn't intend them that way.
Middle class and upper class as well , which includes Indians and people of other continents too. Osho has bluntly stated that he respects wealth and that he is not a worshipper of poverty. And I too know people who are associated with Osho, and they seem happy and contented. Could be, but I think in your compassion for them, you are trying to accept their sexual preferences without any question, instead of trying to see , whether there is any biological reason for this phenomenon, and whether it can be rectified . This option too should be considered , along with acceptance of gays. Well, when I was 13 years old, I was 5' 7 and when I was 17 , I was 5' 10 . I was not quite childlike in appearance at that times. Also I know of adult friends of mine who told me of the same problem. There was also a newspaper account of a policeman recently, who shot dead three of his colleagues for trying to sodomise him.
