fitzy's got a point, if you're mindlessly watching tv are you getting much of an exercise? I like to rollerblade w/ my mp3 player and play trance or industrial, that always gets me going. And you can take your personal player to any machine, not just the bike just make sure it's full of songs that you find exciting, that will motivate you. Don't get worked up about homework, life needs balance. Exercising improves circulation which in itself improves concentration IMO.
What it comes down is burn more calories than you eat. Excercise (specifically aerobic, I'd recommend running) more and eat healthier and less (specifically leave out the precooked and deepfried foods).
hah I would bug the crap outta you if there's something really good on tv I'll walk during the show and run during commercials hah. If I just run I get so caught up in the show that I have tripped and fallen off or had my headphones fall out and almost send me flying lol. tonight's survivor...yay
thats fine, you can do intervals like that walk briskly during the show, then run hard during the commercials - every other commercial you sprint. so first commercial you sprint, next commercial you jog, next commercial you sprint and so on...until the show is back on when you get back to walking.
commercials are 3 minutes long...if I sprinted for three minute that would be a little over 1/3 of a mile. I can't do that anymore lol maybe some day but not anyday soon...I like my 10 minute mile pace thank you very much
1 commercial isn't 3 minutes long....but lets say all the commercials together last 3 minutes commercial 1 - sprint 30 seconds commerical 2 - jog 30 seconds commerical 3 - sprint 30 seconds commercial 4 - jog seconds commercial 5 - sprint 30 seconds commercial 6 - jog 30 seconds or you could do it this way: commercial 1 - sprint 30 seconds commerical 2 - jog 30 seconds commerical 3 - jog 30 seconds commercial 4 - sprint 30 seconds commercial 5 - jog 30 seconds commercial 6 - jog 30 seconds those are intervals. you could also do fartlek you need to challenge yourself and improve babe, thats the only way to lose weight is to constantly challenge and improve yourself. now you might not be able to sprint for 30 seconds, so just start off with 15 or 20 seconds and build up. just do your best and constantly rework your work out and improve and you will see results
erhmmm yeah but I don't wanna kill myself either...I'm more a yoga and slow running type of girl...I don't wanna burn myself out or make it unenjoyable because then I won't go...I mean I am doing something almost everyday for hours sometimes and I am super proud of myself for that at least I am there so that's enough for me...I was stating that I like to watch tv and walk...d: what I really need to do is stop eating so much damn junk food if I want my body to change...argh I can't wait until katie comes home I am always thinner when she's in town she's an awesome healthy cook and is the only friend I have who likes to run...sigh all my other friends are naturally skinny):
i understand. i was just giving you more options to do. and i'm really proud that you have stuck with it and get to the gym. really really proud of you i just dont' want you to hit a plateau and not be able to move on...i still want you to improve. and eating habits, thats more a lifestyle change - dont' think of it as a diet. diets dont' last long, lifestyle changes do. just gradually start eating healthier and cutting the crap out i find that its easy to keep 1 day where i indulge, and that curbs my cravings for the week.
yeah the eating I so need to improve. I tried the one day thing and I couldn't stick to it ): I have been doing a lot better than I used to but I still break down and get coffee cake or a cinnamon roll with my latte once in awhile and those are like 700 calories...and twice a week that adds up and is horrible for me. As far as he exercise goes...I was just last in the hospital in feburary and had to beg that they not admit me and sign a waiver saying they were willing to admit me in April...I just don't think that any doctor would advise me to push myself and sprint right now...but I really do appreciatte the adivce but I more just do it to keep my mental health and would hate to turn it into another competitive and daunting aspect of my life as I already have work and school and volunteer work and freelancing jobs that stress me out. I want this to be mine and what I want to do and no one elses. I really don't have anything of my own, this is it, ou know how controlling the people in my life are and how difficult my career can be...I really don't want to add the gym as another stress point...after all I pay for it and spend my time there I should enjoy it
it is yours lynsey...i dont' want you to push yourself to where your stressing yourself over going to the gym and being burnt out. its fine the way you have it now i didn't want to sound like i was trying to control your workout. i know you're happy with it right now and i know that its helping you immensely - i can tell when we talk on the phone...so just keep up with it and enjoy yourself.
thank you I really do appreicatte your support and friendship you are always so supportive and nice to talk to and kind and you truley are one of my best friends. You offer the greatest advice and are always so non-judgemental. I think it's awesome. I couldn't imagine a day without being in contact with you
i just want you to be happy and healthy... i did come off a little strong on the exercise though, haha...but you know how i am hahaha. but yea, i can't imagine a day without you
heh hey but you also listen to me whenever I need to talk for as long as it takes and truley listen to me. I haven't had a close friend like that in years. It's a trade off I mean it's better than if you ignored me or put no time or effort into our friendship I always feel like we are so open with each other and it's really nice
