Have just gotten back online today and got to reading this thread....
Thank you very much. Makes me smile. I def agree about the value of in prayer asking instead to not want things instead of asking for the things... I try to do this in different ways as well- to spin it around something like this-instead of asking for a seemingly bad situation to be over- instead to ask for the patience and the strength to get through it and also the inner peace in all circumstances.
I find the more I do that the more truly genuinely happy I am and the more I forget to do that the more issues in general I have.

I was talking about thoughts and images.

 

Ok, I was extending it a bit I guess because it seems to me that all thoughts and images are abstract (and in that way are vanishable and so all our images, concepts and thoughts could not be real). So how do we determine which abstract things are real (or aren't any of them?). I can't seem to get rid of my ego at all.

 

None of them. The only thing that is real is what is. The ego disappears when the mind is absorbed in reality. For me this usually takes about one hour of sitting with my eyes shut simply being aware of what's happening. There will come a point when the mind stops it's abstract projections moves into recording mode. The senses are heightened and you get to experience truth, because that's all there is.
