i agree. but it's affected (verb) not effect (noun) at least in the context you used them. you can effect something, by bringing about the cause of it. (i looked this up to make sure i was right, and it's more complicated than i thought) http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/affect anyways...just had to correct you since you do so much correcting of your own most drugs treat the symptoms not the cause of ANY illness. so unless we are gonna do gene therapy to give the person extra receptors or transmitters in their brains, the best we can do is treat the imbalance. but we can only treat it if we understand it better
From people who do psychedelics. Its unlikely your coke dealer knows where to get lsd. At a music festival or other more hippie environment, different story. But be prepared to be sold fake hits and drugs other than lsd by misinformed and/or dishonest people. You need to really know your shit. Asking for a hookup on the forum will get you banned fyi, I assume your question was a general one.
I did not read all the posts to see if this has been mentioned but I'm aware that the fact LSD can help treat depression is documented and accepted in some circles! Cure is a very strong word though and not always applicable to mental illness. LSD is administered to people with chronic illness that causes crushing depression because of the knowledge they are not long for this world. LSD will open their eyes and make them realize how amazing the fabric or reality is and how death is part of a greater cycle. I myself suffer from mild depression and find hallucinogenics to be a great treatment.
Maybe my choice of phrase was too simplistic, but I also didn't mean it like a drug commercial either. My very limited understanding tho, is that plays a part in genuine depression as opposed to simply a case of the blues. This is my overall impression again, not knowing much about it. I'd have to write too much to elaborate, but my experience with 5htp trying to address my work schedule was pretty strong evidence to me. You're a smart cat, noticing that. :sunny: And everything else in your post is golden. I have had this opinion for some time. Narrowing down that mix of internal and external factors might be part of the difficulty of addressing depression, do you think? What do you think about this idea... maybe LSD is an effective "medicine" for external forces, in so far as shining a light on a different perspective on the external issues that contribute to a depressive state? Food for thought. Poor example tho... look at the venue. A tv commercial for a brain drug? Ya gotta dumb that shit down for the masses. This too, is golden. That echos what I was trying to contrast between physiological depression and being bummed. In our society, I think we have turned too much into a disease, inability to "fit in" means something is wrong, etc. I strongly feel that many of these things are over sold, generalized over way too large a group, and often treated with a magic bullet in the form of pills. ADHD is an example. Johnny can't keep still in his seat so there must be something wrong with him. It couldn't possibly be the environment he was put in. The very traits that make Johnny a disruption in the classroom could very well be valuable in a different environment and/or later in life. But that doesn't sell drugs. Though I'm not very educated on the subject, I strongly believe things like adhd and depression are way over "diagnosed" in this country.
I even thought about it before typing that, to avoid that exact mistake.... You're going a level deeper than me-of course you're right, but my point was that you may simply depress yourself, I think that really crushing depression can just be a human emotion, with triggers like any other-but the same drugs will treat the symptoms, because the drug doesn't care WHY there is a chemical imbalance. Either way, I'd trust LSD to (be capable of) help(ing) the individual see around it, in the same way that it seems to have shown BL this stuff.
i think that depression is due entirely to external factors and internal workings. if you stabalise these things then you shouldn't really be depressed anymore. is there any evidence to suggest that a person with a chemical imbalance couldn't heal from the imbalance after adressing internal and external factors in their life and no longer have a chemical imbalance? i think under the right circumstances a person's chemical imbalance will stabilise. however for people that have taken SSRIs and mood stabilisers and the like it enters into a different realm since these drugs affect you so heavily, there will be a dependancy. maybe lsd could play a role in the circumstances that bring a person out of depression, but there are certainly other ways. there have been alot of experiences reported of people coming out from depressed states after an lsd experience. but it's not necesarily a good idea to trip with a depressed set, since it might increase your chance of having a bad trip. these are the kind of 'lucky' trips that are really magical. i think it's safe to say that lsd can and has brought people out of depression. which is a solid reason for lsd medical research to be legal. :2thumbsup: schedule 1 bullshit..
