i once had a teacher announce in front of the entire class that i was a cheater because i was able to do basic math in my head. kids get enough shit from their peers for not pretending to be stupid; we really don't need teachers attacking people over it too. it's no wonder foreign countries have better education.
Remember the Mad Mag growing up in UK 60s/70s (when I could get a hold of it!). I spent time in the company and environment of student culture. The muse and consideration of issues raised in comic format but often profound meaning was enlightening. Those were the daze when the generation of Youth had a drive of uniformed ambition to change though I wonder if, "the time has indeed changed" and that which was "blowin'" has now drifted away with the breeze?, with a 'me' over 'we' replacement of goals superseding what was the dream/s of better days. - I would hope not. I wonder if the strength of feeling to make a difference is still strong, will similar muse continuing to take place (I no longer frequent such circles) for the responsibility to rebel should always be a clarion for youth - it's how we evolve. so - I would hope so. MAD was one way of reaching out to the youth of the day to get messages across to a WW audience, although now with the advancement of the W(Web) perhaps it is the way of things and the time is right to archieve what was such a Powerful piece of communication - at that moment in time. IMO
