mr. m you have to stop with the downer bit...its a real...downer. I had a band that lived at my farm last summer. They had all met in highschool and had just grauated, they were kick ass, and they have really progressed the longer they played together. They could be the next big thing, you never know, and they met and formed their band in highschool. You cant judge a book by its cover.... Furthermore, this is just some internet site where we all happened upon eachother... who knows what we do outside of these forums??????????????? By the way, cant wait to trip out tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See you a couple days! Peace and Love
WoodStockChild, if you are serious you'll find someone that can convert your tapes to digital and get it out on the net. To say I don't know how isn't going to cut it. It's a simple process and one I bet a lot of your fellow high school students could do for you. It's not complicated. And this technology is something your generation should learn to harness. I know mine would have. You don't need Bill Graham you have the internet. Be careful of promoters. With the internet you can do it yourself. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/10/29/DDGLFFFA831.DTL
i truly believe you can do it!! i have the same dreams as you-ill volunteer to play at your music fest!!lol dont let people bring you down and smash your ideas and desires. ive had that happen more than once, TRUST me! just keep working at it! one day its people like us that will truly change the world
I do know an old neighbor who turned some records into CDS... if it was on a CD could I get it to everyone?
i know i should, my personality is just more of a negative one. i tend to not expect things to happen that way, when they dont i wont be real dissapointed.
Your generation should be speaking out now for Peace, why wait until you can plan for rock concert party in the park type thing. Running naked and peeing in the bushes isn't what it was all about.
People are being killed lives are being lost and destroyed. You are waiting until you can put together a rock concert. Get real, get educated. Get active.
Well, gardener, educating ones self is a long an individualized process. You must seek and learn and talkto people, and figure out what you stand for and where you stand.... you guys are being kind of harsh. Alright, woodstockchild, put together a cd with one or two songs. You can go to a local recording studio. Send me a copy, and when my boyfriend and i get the chance to guest dj on the local radio station, we'll play your best song. DO IT!!! You gotta do it. Once you do, we'll all help you out. I will even have you at MY festival. What do ya say lady?????????? Peace and Love
Wow. I would definitely do that! I'll record a tape sometime this week. I'll be seeing the guy who can turn tapes into CDs the day we line up for Stones tickets, August 12th. I'll see if he can do it. If he can, what do I do next?
All I can do is quote the wonderfully insightful Stan from South Park at the local hippy music festival: "So, I thought we were going to be saving the world? are we going to start saving the world now or what?"
Life is harsh for those that are losing families and homes. I don't think I was being harsh. But I was making a wakeup call.
I used to want to do something along the lines of that-- but I don't think it would do much good to go in reverse, to try to change things as they tried to change things.. look at the world right now? we've come a long way.. but not far enough. I think we need to become progressive, to find something NEW and beautiful.. because who changes the world by becoming a carbon copy hippy with a dream that's so vague?
No, we've fallen into a pit as far as I'm concerned. Haven't you noticed how shallow and msterialistic people are?
And the solution is for well meaning people like you to get real. You've already achieved far above what many people could hope for - you care. Now, take the next step and learn to think.
Get your music out on the internet WSC. That's the fastest mode available to reach people. Develop a following, and speak out in person when you hear false claims being made. I realize you are young and feeling powerless about the whole thing, but you aren't. You have a free media tool at your disposal that is more powerful than anything we oldsters had. We had to rely on free papers, pamphlets and sticking sheets of paper under windshield wipers. That was labor intensive and probably not very efficient, but it's what we had to work with. You can get your message out to millions, internationally if you just give it shot. And you can do all that without standing on street corners or walking from car to car.
Try giving your first song out as a freeby for IPOD users. If it's good enough and people love it and believe in it, you're on your way to being a voice people will listen to. If you have a catchy section, turn it into a ringtone, that many will hear and come to associate with your movement for peace. Put up a site at MySpace that isn't like the rest. Change the atmosphere of MySpace by talking about your views on the world, the environment, peace. Why should it just be a clone of High School clickism. Make your pesence there one that everyone wants to visit and talk about thoughtfully. (And to be honest I've only been there a couple of times, but I know it's gaining in popularity. And you could make it work for your movement.)
See WSC you're gaining new converts all the time. Time to harness the net. If you don't have the know how, many of your fellow students do, come together make this new technology work for you. You could have a non-stop podcast New Style Woodstock that could bring all of you together. And after the buzz buzzes and you have the popularity then amass together somewhere. Maybe not Woodstock, maybe by then there will be a place that makes more sense for your generation. My generation and those that have passed will be there with you in spirit but this is something you guys have to build and discover. To me your generation should be standing at "ground zero". Not sure the officials of Manhatten would let you but that would really put a zinger to the message. Your generation was affected the most by what happenned there. It really should be a place where the voice of the people can be heard.
I REALLY need help. I finally recorded a song with my digital cameral, but Photobucket won't upload it. Is there any way to get it on here? I'm only 15. I don't have access to all this stuff.
