I agree with you in some ways. But you just cant repeat a time that happened 40 years ago. That is naive. What you can do is start a new peacful, anti-war revolution. You reach the people through music. If your words and rythems and vibes and tones are about peace, and people except that and love it, then you started a revolution. I someday wish that music will be about peace and not violance and have happy, joyful sounds like it did in the 60s. Drugs can be good in ways. I enjoy drugs (pot,e,acid) in shaping my lyric and enjoying myself. It is iresponsible though to think that you are a better artist stoned. Maybe you get good ideas from it, performance wise, trust me, it will start to affect you. I AM WITH IN STARTING A NEW REVOLUTION OF PEACE, LOVE, AND ROCK AND ROLL! Peace.
More lyrics... Just part of a song I wrote about Woodstock. The air was hazy in the peak of the night The music spoke to our restless minds Reckless as our reckless time Wasn't it good to be alive? Let it be, we were falling up Never ever coming down. Music is fire; we let it burn Thought the wheels of time would never turn And we knew it would last forever. "The dawn is breaking but we're still here Living out our greatest years: The truth was soon to take it's toll I guess we'd been dreaming all along And a dream can't last forever No, a dream can't last forever.
i like your idea but not alone, requruit other from your school snd around town and the world your gonna save
i dont know abou that. i have the feeling people shut themselves up for peacefull music. like they have enough of it or they seem to think you're just a bunch of hippie-fakers and hopeless idealists. music is not the only way to change the world, only a trigger mabey.
you have some really good lyrics, you sound like a natural Woodstock has been done again twice but both of them ended up in riots, not very peaceful. theres gotta be something you can do to change that you know
Hey mann, I'd just like to say, that youre probably the most ambitious young person around here. It's really what we need. I'm right behind you 100%. It's good to hear I'm not the only person around that feels that way. Peace mann.
The power of music has reached out to billions over time. Yes there are other ways that you can reach people, but you have a lot of nerve to say that musicians who reach out to people through music are hopless idealists, so John Lennon was a hippie-faker and a hopeless idealist?
this is a little off topic i guess but, they should have another woodstock near like seatle.....cuz i couldnt gwt to NY
when i talk about hippy-fakers i mean young people nowadays who feel inspired by the original hippies in the sixties, like us. i don´t say we are hippy-fakers and hopeless idealist or john lennon was one. but i have the feeling most people think about this like that. i would say it only means we still have a lot of work to do. and i would like to say we shouldn´t focus on the music. to everyone who wants to make peaceful music, good music, i offcourse say. do the best you can. http://www.odemagazine.com/ this a site of a magazine which write about the wonderful things people do to improve our world, i feel inspired by it and i hope you (everyone who likes to) will have a look on it as well and feel the same.
yea, its a nice idea and all, but as of right now it cant work for a couple of reasons. A)you cant just make the same revolution as what hapened before it it will fail the same way. you can get inspired, but it has too be diffrent because we are different people, different enviornment, different times, and different problems. B)back then lots of bad shit was goin down and the young people were pissed off and sick of it and outraged. now, in modern times, lots of bad shit is still going down, old and new, but look at the young people, most couldnt give a shit at all. a vast majority of american kids only care about getting money and getting rich and couldnt give a shit about anyone but themselves. this has too change if the revolution we want is going to happen. some huge, terrible thing that will snap all the kids out of their selfish, greedy, capitalistic mindset nd think more for the betterment of humans as a whole. i really do like your idea though. me and my friend have a very similar idea except without all the joining hands and singing Imagine and all that jazz. and ya know, from ur age i assume you just finished ur freshman year like me, so hey, there is a possibility we could both be musicians with the same goal and same cause. kinda like how Janis, Hendrix and Morrison were all around at the same time and had a common goal, who knows. but things are different now, itt will be harder to get a new way of thinking to slap all the kids in the face and change the way they think then it was in the 60s we got new drugs, most aren't good like LSD was, we have a much more powerful and controling government then back then. but the biggest thing, is apathy. the world is just too damn lazy now. lots of people say, "yea! thats a good idea!" but then just go sit on a couch and play a video game for hours or watch TV. no one wants to do things themselves, they all expect other people to do it for them. the only way to start our revolution is to have some purly outragous, terrible thing that will send young people over the edge. and ya know what? we dont need to be hippys! we should make a name for oursleves in the history books! we are a new generation with a new purpose and new ideas! sure, we can share some ideas with hippiys, but we cant just copy them. we willl have to fight for different causes and have to fight new evils. they fought against war, racism, and they fought for freedom and peace we will have to fight war also, but we will also have to fight big corporations, greed, and narrow-mindedness. but we also fight for peace and freedom, not the illusion of freedom that we have in america now. so even though we may fight different things, our end result is still the same., peace, freedom, and tolerance. we have to kill the budding tyranny in america before we becomes the same thing that our founding fathers created america to oppose. sory if any of this was said before, i diddnt read throuygh all the posts. but woodstockchild, what will have to hapen cannot be solved by just one big concert and a few powerful musicians, it has to be solved by people, everyone must change their mindset away from greed, money, and power. and this wil take alot more time and energy than you think. we must learn from the mistakes the hippys made and try to fix things. but i agree, we cant just sit around and be passive! we have to do something! i just hope that something pisses of enough young people soon cause each day that goes by will make the revolution harder to succeed. but when the revolution does happen, ill be right there helping to start it. probably as a musician like you, but as of right now, the only thing we can do is stick to our guns, not back down, and try to get more people in high school onto our side.
we also have to change peoples thinking about drugs, majority of america and even half of high schoolers look at drugs and say, "eww stoners are brain-dead losers" then take another swig of their liquer, throw up, and keep on partying. well maybe if they new that einstein smoked weed till the day he died. Bill Gates used weed, shrooms, mescaline, and acid untill microsoft got big. most people have been brainwashed by media, government, schools, and hypocritical(sp?) parants who constantly preach about the evils of marijuana and LSD and then talk about their "rightous" war in Iraq and drink another beer and smoke another ciggarette. people need to understand that no one can tell me what i can put into my body, what i eat, drink, smoke, whatever. many scientists and historians believe that all major advances in human society were made by the influence of psychedelics, like agriculture, boats, and shit like that. evidence of influence from drugs is everrywhere. the man who came up with the idea for the computer said he got the idea after tripping on shrooms. look at your fucking media player! all those trippy color shit on it. im tired of people looking at me, and just because i smoke weed, they think im a stupid idiot and the only thing i know how to do is make a pipe or bong out of anything. then when they see that im not an idiot and am much smarter than most people around my school my age, they turn around, make fun of me for my ideas on ethics, government, and politics, and nature, and even god. calling me a "stupid drugged out, dellusinol(sp?) hippy who doesnt know what im talking about." then they turn around in their $120 shoes, $60 pre-ripped jeans, and $30 american-eagle shirt. then when they see that im not so dumb after all, they ridicule me for my long hair, worn out jeans (not all cut up with scizzers and shit, just worn out), and my one pair of old shoes. im sick of it. they need to open their eyes and see their destructive ways of greed and selfishness. but people also need to understand that while some drugs may be good, not all are and even good ones need to be used in moderation. heroin and coke and meth are bad drugs that have no benefit to human minds. they get you addicted, turn you into and selfish monster that only thinks about himself and his drugs. people need t0o know that acid and shrooms and other psychedelics arent there just t0o have a good time, they are there to help you advance as a person, to expand you mind and help you escape from societies conforming. if you dont respect it and use it just to have fun, it bitch slaps you in the face and something bad hapens, and the drug gets a bad name. people need to be responsible drug users, not just stupid teenagers trying to get wasted. and the mindset of all people who use drugs are stupid losers and will never amount to anything is not going to change very easily, so we as a generation have our work cut out for us with stuff in this post, and my last. but if we dont do anything now, then everything will just get worse and the next generation will have an even harder time to fix things. do i think that our generation can fix everything? no, but we can start a change, create a new way of thinking and help start things, give everything a push, get some things done and then when our time has ended the next generation can continue our work with their own twists, hopefully for the better. but if no one starts this revolution, there will never even be a possibility of change and anything getting better, right now, the way the world is, if we stay on this path we willonly end up with death, distruction, and disaster through war, genocide, nuclear holocaust, and murder. we have to change something now!
Same exact shit happens to me every day man. But next year I'm gonna try and change all that. My goal for next school year is to try to get peopleto think. i've already got a big list of stuff to do with a friend like putting on free concerts in the hallways or starting a student organization... I don't know if this is relevant but I just read an awesome quote that really inspired me: "It's easier to get forgiveness than permission" Banksy
yea, see in my school its much harder to do anything, some people tried to make a protest about the immigration laws or something (most of the kids that went were dumb asses and did it to cut class) and all the kids who went got suspended and some got expelled. i wasnt a part of it since they are dumb to protest a law that helps illegal immigrants. bbut yea, my school is very much trying (and suceeding) in brainwashing all the kids to conform and think like the school tells them too. like 10 min i tried to have a conversation with someone about the stuf i typed up here, and anytime i made any comment, she would get all pissy and start yelling at me abd when she saw she was beat, all she said was "all you care about is drugs!" i proved her wrong again on something else and her response is "o yeah? well how far have you gone with a girl?" wtf? that has nothing to do with this. and now she tells me that cause the school told her that weed kills many brain cells and stunts penis growth. i tell her to look it up to see if its true and she refusesand completely changes the subject. see woodstockchild? its people like this that are the biggest thing standing in the way of your idea god people can be so fucking dumb
i think this is a great idea.to help with your idea you could find a place to have a big concert/get some of the musicans from the original woodstock.im sure their are a few who would love to play again.let it be like a 4 or 5 day event the reason i say get some of the older musicans is if you get this crap today those people who come to the show will just want to see there fav. band.we want to get only those who are ready for change.we have to work slowly but that is a good start i think.one more thing get sponcers to help you like this website and everyone on here.if you get all these people behind i see no way why this wouldnt happen.if you need any help let me know..vodoo
