This is the type of thing that makes me nervous about breastfeeding in public. I am a shy person and just the thought of nasty stares from others freaks me out, let alone a confrontation like this. I'm glad that my husband supports my desire to breastfeed 100% and he doesn't mind a little confrontation if the need arises. He'll be my rock [IMG]

*SIGN THE PETITION TO SUPPORT BREASTFEEDING: http://www.momsrising.org/breastfeeding-petition

Join me in telling Delta Airlines to get a clue and be supportive of breastfeeding mothers; and also in telling Congress it's time to pass the Breastfeeding Promotion Act, which amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to protect breastfeeding mothers. Clearly this law is needed now!

And, I hope you'll also join me and tens of thousands of others in one of the most exciting grassroots movement on the Internet: MomsRising.org.

SIGN ON WITH MOMSRISING AT: http://www.democracyinaction.org/di...msrising/signUp.jsp?key=1682&t=longsignup.dwt

MomsRising.org (http://www.momsrising.org) is working to build a massive grassroots movement big enough to impact the outcome of the 2008 elections and beyond. The time has come to break the logjam that's been holding back family-friendly legislation for decades. It's going to take all of us--and then some--working together to get there.

    Thank you!

i dont understand why breast feeding is soo offensive to people i really dont. you cant see anything, clothes cover up the top part of the breast & baby covers the rest. i would hate to have to eat my food under a stuffy blanket, even in bed i hate having my head under the covers because i just cant breath properly. i cant understand why people find something that is so natural offensive.

Sera, don't worry about breastfeeding in public. The reason these stories make the news is because it should NOT be happening (trying to stop a womyn from feeding her child) and the fact that, usually, things are OK.

I've breastfed FOUR kids, into toddlerhood (and two into nursery school) in public and never ONCE got a remark or anything like that. I look people right in the eye and smile, when I am breastfeeding in public. It usually tends to disarm them pretty well.

Don't be afraid to bf your baby when ever and where ever he needs it. Many states have anti-harrassment laws for breastfeeding moms and nowhere, in North America or Aussie or Western Europe is it "Illegal" to breastfeed in public. You have law, medicine, science and billions of other mamas behind you! FEED THAT BABY, when he comes out, mama.

I was just going to say also that i have nursed 5 (stil nursing the 5th) and have never once had anyone say anything in public. I can see how some people have become more excepting. Comparing my experiences from my first to now my fifth. When i mention these type of stories to my sister and my partner. They both say "let someone give you a hard time while i am there" This amuses me so much. I am a quite mellow person. Obviosly you can see they don't mind conflict at all.
