True, the land was stolen from the Indians, built on the backs of slaves and indentured servants, and has controlled its population through fear and the myth of empire building by right - it doesn’t deserve to exist

Practically no country on earth deserves to exist if you apply that logic.

I would start worshiping you now, but I'm afraid that my current god might smite me.

I have to agree with Pavel on this.

The UK, Spain and France combined... enslaved almost the entire world for about 500 years. The cost in lives of colonialism was about a billion people.

I'm not big on the idea of countries myself, yet sadly we're stuck with it.

Who's your current god? I might be able to barter for you.

For example, I own Lynard Skynard.

you might be right. you might also be wrong, and I think/hope if society and civilization as we know it were to completely collapse, citystates would form quickly and people would be allowed to contribute to the community in return for food and shelter. of course, anything we predict is mere speculation.

however I think it is unlikely that you would see an overnight collapse of global economy. seems more likely that certain currencies would plummet, and as such you wouldn't really have a total economic collapse. if your money is a strong currency (hooray for me!) you would probably be much better off than if you had, say, USD or GBP. speculation again, and also a bit hopeful.

I once met a guy who actually had a piece of the airplane :D. (This was in Arkansas, as you might logically figure out)

My current god is the dark lord Satan. It's going to be hard for you to beat that one. He owns Slayer.

People are NOWHERE near as organized. There will be no community. Unemployment rates will skyrocket. No one will need your lousy contributions. Supplies will be low. People will be looking out for their own damn ass.

Want a stable currency? Get yourself some yuans.

This points out the one fundamental difference between blacks and whites "we don’t believe in manifest destiny"

    No.

What I said was tongue in cheek.

I think the US is in more of a process of gradual atrophy and transition than global collapse.

again, maybe. unemployment might skyrocket, but people always form communities. and those communities need people to contribute. symbiotic. your prediction of doom is based on an instantaneous fall of all civilization, which I think is unlikely.

and don't worry, I'm safe as far as currency goes, even without asian money :)

What you're talking about isn't an economic collapse, but a weak recession.

    I'm talking about a depression.

Anyhow, I personally don't think that shit's gonna hit the fan. This is just a time or instability, or as Spencer eloquently said... "general atrophy". Empires fall... at times this is actually for the good of the people living within the empire.

I don't know if shit's going to hit the fan or what's gonna happen; I do think there is change ahead, but not as devastating as some people would have us believe. at the end of the day, I concern myself with immediate events in my life, not with possible long-term political and economical consequences.
