I was leaving Croydon the day after the attack. I knew there would be armed guards everywhere, and there were. We went from East Croydon to Victoria Station to Piccadilly to Heathrow. Remarkably I don't remember seeing armed guards at Heathrow. They were probably there somewhere, we just didn't encounter them at the terminal. Security was pretty standard too, though a few people were, seemingly randomly, pulled aside. Anyway, what a horrible thing to have happened.
It's humans that create the evil, so it's only humans that can end it. It does look like a very long road though. I used to hope for a better world when I was young and naive. Now I'm older and less naive I still hope for a better world. I doubt I'll live to see it. But maybe one day ......
Yeah, worrying about the world my child is inheriting keeps me up at night a lot I just take my duty of raising an empathetic, kind soul who gives, rather than a narcissistic sociopath who takes, very seriously. I think humanity has always been pretty barbaric and fucked up though, not really sure if things are worse now or if we just perceive it that way
I think the problem now is that unlike past epochs of history we have the capacity to pretty much wipe ourselves out, and cause damage to nature that may take many millennia to recover. When I was a parent with a young child I took the same attitude - try to bring them up to be good, caring and considerate. About all you can do really.
I think Your right about Humanity having always been Barbaric and much worse atrocities were committed in the past ! but these days the media is there on the spot so things do seem worse Imagine if the BBC were there to report the Indian Wars , Or the Crusades ! Anyway this thread is getting Miles Off Topic !!
It's for us to talk about what happened. There's no off topic here. Just people reacting to the situation and maybe going off topic, maybe being a bit off colour but still forgiven. Why not.
I was Accused of being Off topic earlier in this thread ? When I said You Just hate the torys because they wont Let you have your Weed Which is what You have said many times on these Forums
Well I think the concept of off-topic should perhaps be allowed some remit where permissible. It is the nature of conversation to digress, thus it is more interesting for so.
I've noticed that threads are more likely to veer far off-topic after the idea of being off-topic has been mentioned. I stand on the same side of the line as everyone else. I'm trying to take in what has happened, another horror film. Ian Brady just died, and we all hoped and wished that his soul would rot in hell. But now we have Salman Abedi, who can only have been mentally insane to do such a horrible thing to little girls. I'm not trying to excuse him, but to carry out such an act of violence to other people. The last time there was an attack like this, the Westminster bridge attack a few weeks ago. Does anyone remember that the US-UK led coalition against/for Syria bombed a school by accident on the same day? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/s-coalition-syria-air-strike-raqq-isis-school-killed-al-mansoura-human-rights-observatory-a7642781.html The poor children of these countries we have been invading all these years have suffered attrocity like this on almost a daily basis since.

Referencing my latter part of my post and just tagging DH here (ugh, yeah sorry the name stuck hehe) But folks, my most sincerest and humble apologies for any misunderstanding. See, I thought the sign I heart MCR was for a band (do I have to spell it out? They didn't have much of a positive following on this site back in the day, but that was likely a lot of just rude passerbys. Anyway) So, while I could make the connection of the letters to Manchester, I knew of the band thing first, so that is where my mind went. I mean, that is how the fans speak and abbreviate the band, right? Plus, having folks who are both from UK and band fans, well can you understand my confusion then? Anyway, again, my most humble apologies. I was not at all trying to be rude. Silly me simply thought it was funny DH was promoting a band, that band, and I was just trying to lighten the situation. I am very serious about injustice, but we also have to remember to laugh and love at the same time, so I try to do that. Anyway...love, peace, and sincerest warm wishes to you all!
