many good, but only one evil

I don't believe in true evil, just stupidity. Every time someone commits an act we regard as evil, they are just being stupid and foolish. Evil seems to allude to some underlying fact about the nature of this world, that there is a force for good and a force for evil. I can't grant any so-called "evil" person that much power. Really their brains are just being stupid. There are plenty of stupid animals, and there are other animals that are more intelligent and strive for understanding. Understanding is knowledge. Understanding is wisdom. If you don't want to understand, you're not evil; you're just dumb.

So often you'll hear people talk about diabolical individuals, as if it's cunning to purposefully try to not understand and feel compassion for others. There's nothing cunning about willfully trying to be dumber than you could be, though.

 

Evil people are fundamentally stupid, but "evil" and "stupid" should be distinguished. Stupid means poor :
1. Slow to learn or understand; obtuse.
2. Tending to make poor decisions or careless mistakes.
3. Marked by a lack of intelligence or care; foolish or careless: a stupid mistake.
Therefore, a reckless, ignorant person like Trump is stupid.

Evil means evil :
1. Morally bad or wrong; wicked: an evil tyrant.
2. Causing ruin, injury, or pain; harmful: the evil effects of a poor diet.

So Trump is both stupid and evil.

I would say technology is pretty great yes. But... that's not the point. You said technology is what sets us apart from (other) animals. I say its primarily the brain, not the use of tools or technology on itself (of course developing technology is a consequence of our human brain).
