If having respect and consideration for others facing a struggle is "uptight" in your opinion you can save them because no one asked you. Go stay high and oblivious to the real world.

 

I find having fun, smoking herbs and not killing others to be a pretty significant part of the so-called 'real world'.

I really have a hard time with the approval of killing other human beings..We here in the USA have an ALL VOLUNTEER military..which means, these young men were recruited, trained to kill and then sent off to a foreign land to do such..VOLUNTARILY! Sorry, I feel no pity for them, only the people they have killed VOLUNTARILY!

 

I'm not angry. I'm stating an unpopular opinion. Whether you agree with me is irrelevant. You're entitled to disagree if you wish. But what you're doing is attacking me instead of the argument. If you do not like marines or the way they treat people (a yes considering you referred to them as ignorant warmongers versus human beings), then you should attempt to articulate that instead of attacking people with differing opinions.

You obviously didn't read *my* post because the message was to be considerate of everyone in light of the struggles that we all face.

My ex husbands parents died when he was 15. He lived on the streets for two years before joining. Very much like many (not all) of the homeless "hippies" here, who do zero to contribute to society. That's not what hippies intended, its what the lazy subculture confuses it as. Real hippies from the start actually made a difference somewhere. Smoking pot in your apartment or parents house doesn't qualify you as a hippie…it just means you're a stoner. And perpetuating hate is not hippie.

For a kid who has had zero upbringing, zero means to support himself and zero future it would definitely beat the alternative in his case. So not everyone joins out of choice because they have soooo many options.

 

So, that justifies killing others? I think Jeffrey Dahmer could say the same of his upbringing..sounds like a crutch to expain oneselfs actions..

You said people volunteer like they are all so happy and excited to be in the military killing people when I'm trying to point out to you that for some young, impressionable, needy men and women they see it as their only option. Does that mean we can't still have compassion for them?

 

ok..in an All volunteer military, why would a man, with many choices, choose the Infantry? which pretty much guarantees PTSD and the killing of others..why would he do that? explain that to me please..Infantry, front lines, killing, mayhem, volunteer

They actually take a test to see what they qualify for once they enlist. Not to sound rude but the less intelligent people (or ones who don't score well) get funneled into infantry. However, yes, some do choose that option. I'm not defending them though.
