You're preaching peace and all the while attacking me and not understanding a single thing I said, putting words in my mouth and insulting me.
haha i love getting people wild up, its great! yeh people that go into the military r ignorant. i think there is enough evidence for that. im not sayin all, but most. i was only standing up for the people u were putting down in your posts. if im not worth it then dont reply to this, and let me have the last word. thanks
happily in love, im starting to wonder y u r on this forum in the first place? calling people phony hippies? like wtf. anger has lead u to hate at this point
I've only personally known four people that were in the army. My dad - kinda crazy. My sister's husband - drinking problem. Her ex boyfriend - hit on me when I was in middle school. Other friend of hers - had some mental issues, not sure what. You can look up plenty of awful stories involving people in the service. Those stories, however, shouldn't diminish the respect the others get. There are still SO many amazing and respectful servicemen in the world. They are very brave for joining, even if you don't understand or agree with or support the reasons why. In regards to the original story, I think Mother's Love said it best. That particular marine should have been a better representative of his branch. Plain and simple. Edit to add- I'm tired of people thinking that just because the title of the forum is HIPforums, we all have to be hold hand hippies. Sorry to burst the flowery little bubble.
While I disagree with this, I think it raises some interesting points. I think that absence of a draft in America is causing the same families/types of people to enlist and reenlist in the military. As a result we get a fairly homogeneous armed service. A little while ago, I read an article that put forth the theory that we are creating a "warrior class" in America. For instance: "Statistics are rare, but a Department of Defense 2011 Status of Forces survey indicated that 57 percent of active troops today are the children of current or former active or reserve members of the armed forces." http://www.stripes.com/news/middle-east/iraq/is-the-no-draft-military-creating-a-warrior-class-1.202622 Mandatory service would deepen the pool of personality types that "served" this country. Perhaps it would also help change the prevailing thought patterns and blind patriotism that is so prevalent among our service men and women.
lol at people on here acting like they have served in the military or know every single person who has. Or acting like they know how the military works when they just sit at home on 4chan all day. Who cares if a marine did this on a bus?? People who arent in the military do this shit EVERY DAY.
I'm sorry, I was generalizing. I assume you meant some sort of mandatory government service. While not a draft in the traditional sense, it's similar.
Do you realize that this is the same logic people use who claim that everyone who receives welfare are lazy and just wants to sponge off of society? I mean, they have the choice to work good paying jobs don't they? Word
Yeah, I would have to say I have seen/encountered many more civilian assholes than military ones, and of the military personal I have known, many have been assholes to one degree or another, but usually rather disciplined ones.
