I would like to take this oportunity to say never say never. I never thought that I would be saying this but.... Wonderful post! Exactly what I was thinking...you rule!
I like fish and chips. The food is slightly better / healthier at Bennigans/ Fridays/ Ruby Tuesdays / Ruth Chris Steak House/ Charlie Browns/ Chilis. Cafeteria food would be about the nutritional equal to Bennigans/ Fridays/ Ruby Tuesdays / Ruth Chris Steak House/ Charlie Browns/ Chilis. Candy is OK. Especially in moderation. Vegetables are not cool. They taste like ass. Much like beer you can get used to it if you force yourself through repetition. Chinese take-out is generally NOT healthier than McD's. I worked Chinese for 5 years...trust me. Now if you are certain that they are not adding MSG and you are also certain that the food you are ordering is not fried (Good Luck), then it would be healthier for sure. That "fattening fettuchini at The Olive Garden", is also slightly better for you than McD's. I love Mexican food it's my favorite. And traditional tacos are generally not considered healthy. Soda is also bad for you. I drink at least two per day.
Be careful what kinda propaganda that you buy into. An average salad contains over 50 grams of fat (it's the dressing). That equals out to almost 80% of your recommended fat intake for the entire day. I suppose we should be praising McD's for their low fat content in their salad. The example above was ranch dressing. http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/Foods/400/4639/Food.aspx
Chinese is scary. I worked in a Chinese Restaurant for 5 years. In that time we went through over 700 pounds of MSG. And BTW "no MSG added" only means that we didn't add any "extra". That fettucini likely has more fat than a value meal. The health benefits would be close to equal. Tacos are fried and usually have sour cream and cheese on them-not healthy! BTW- I love tacos too!
