Ok, I wish I could support you and would if it made since.

But heres the thing, this tree being so rare. Wouldn't it take forever to find it? And if it is somewhat true then why would someone pay large groups of people large amounts of money to find a tree so that they can cut it down and bring it back to then spend more money on turning the tree into oil.. THEN processing the oil into a chemical with Lab equipment probably costing more money. Buying more chemicals for the synthesis of MDMA just to process the base chemical. Now I roughly estimate all of that to be well, over 10000 dollars. And I am not even doing the math, Now after all of that they have to import it into a country that gives a life sentance for the possession of 120mg's of ecstacy. Now on top of all of that, I can get Pure MDMA for 9 dollars per pill. And ecstacy for 7 - 20 dollars a pill (15 dollars being a bad day.)

If your claim was true then I would probably stop using and start using the legals.

But thank you for letting us know, and if you have anything else regarding nature's safety let us know! I am always looking to show my activism.

Are you doubting that MDMA is made from saffrole? Seriously?

Now, it's totally fair to see a problem with being blamed because of the drug warriors throwing the environment under the bus, but paranoid mysticism about chemistry is another thing. Where do you think MDMA comes frm, exactly?

Are you angry all the time? Everytime I see your posts it makes me worry for you....

Anyways, I am not doubting it comes from the tree, I am sure some MDMA does come from it. But MDMA can be synthesized with lab equipment I personally know street chemists who make it and I can tell you. They dont go through all that shit.

And paranoid mysticism about drug chemisty? I am sorry could you please rephrase that, that doesn't remotely even compare to what I said perhaps you misused the word? Please reread what I posted earlier I am sure you misunderstood my motivation to post that.

And one last thing, dont use wikipedia when it comes to drugs. People who post How too's and whatnot tend to not be drug users.

BTW if you claim to know so much about the synthesis of a product I mentioned, Have you ever handled such an operation eh, with legal Care *Wink Wink*? Or do you just look this up on wikipedia?

Nope. It's not hard for the poachers and smugglers to find it. Untouched malaysian rainforest in a reserve with 1 ranger per 20 miles is pretty easy to penetrate and locate the camphor(safrole producing) species.
Please let's be real... The venture is well worth it and the incentives are huge. Many black market higher ups deal in the smuggling of precursors exclusively and have made a fortune from it without ever touching the highly illegal final product. The sourcing is not expensive at all; id imagine no shortage of workers in poor southeast asian countries who will do the job cheap. These poachers on the ground get paid shit to cut camphor trees and boil the root bark for the oil..maybe 20 bucks a day or something like that. Not to mention the cancerous fumes they breathe in distilling it, and the risk of penalties from the law if caught. It takes a lot of trees to make a lot of oil but it's still worth it for the syndicates that invest in the operation. Within a standard 55 gallon drum you have millions of doses potentially. The refined oil goes from Asia all over the world to chemists who synthesize it into MDxx class chemicals.

The people who chop up rainforest trees don't necessarily need to turn the oil into MDMA to make an insane profit. The oil itself is worth enough on the black market to make a sizable business out of extracting and smuggling it. It does take 1000s of dollars do do all of this stuff and there are harsh sentence but the incentives are hundreds of thousands if not millions for the right players.
    Her claim is true.

hippies that compain about oil extraction from trees for MDx probably drive their car places and use electricity and clean their house with under-the-sink chemicals.

if you don't want to do MDMA anymore, good for you. considering that most pressed xtc pills have around 15% MDMA in them, i don't think one or two hippies giving up on being strung out on pressies is going to revolutionize the black market. if one was a heavy eater/mover/handler of molly then it would be a different story.

are byproducts created from the other things you like to ingest and intake? i'm assuming non-replaceable resources are used in your everyday life.

i'm not hating, not at all. it's a very informative thread, it's cool to know about the trees where the love comes from, but unless you know that your MDx has been extracted from the tree directly then the only thing you're preventing is a couple extra bucks in your dealer's pocket.

There seem to be two points of confusion that are leading to argument:
    (1) Is there a way of synthesizing MDx drugs without using any precursors from these trees? If so, what is that process, how environmentally friendly is it, and how often is it the one used?

    (2) There seems to be confusion about the nomenclature that MDMA "comes from" endangered trees: that MDMA is somehow extracted or distilled from the saffrole trees. Folks need to realize that what is being discussed are PRECURSOR molecules. Once the oil is extracted from the trees, the drug chemist still has to go through many steps to turn them into MDMA. They're not cutting down trees and sucking out the Molly. They are cutting down the trees because they give one of the basic ingredients that is used in the synthesis of Molly. Carry on.

^ thank you. point 2 is what i was trying to get at but i'd been smoking some really heavy hash oil ;P

however i can understand sympathy for the trees (as much as a lot kid can) but i mean come on. it seems to me that's like quitting pot completely just because the smoke releases toxins in the air.

wikipedia says this (yeah i know lol wikifail)

so i hope you hippies plan on blowing up macy's for selling perfume too :D

The truth is you are a link in a chain. If you place yourself at the bottom, middle or top it doesn't matter. If you buy and eat this crap you directly support this kind of environmental ravaging. The consumer is empowered with the choice of their purchase. This typical "oh what is one person changing gonna do" attitude is painfully indicative of the type of selfish apathy that will lead to the destruction of much of our valued resources and ecosystems. Obviously you lack the sense of responsibility to recognize this and are very childlike in your assumptions. These markets are all supply and demand if the demand drops out the profits go.
Of course. This is an inevitability of living in western industrialized society. We can take steps however to limit the amount of waste and impact we have through choices we make on a daily basis.
Thankfully I can't be classified as a hippie, and I walk less than a mile to work, drive less than 40 miles a week, and clean my house with a mop and some bleach... I don't see how any of that is on par with supporting a destructive poaching practice by popping stimulants but ok. It's pretty common now for a lot of people to become self-conscious of their impact on the planet and take responsibility for their actions. I don't see how you can ostracize people for wanting to engender a sense of accountability for what they purchase. By shifting the subject to the other ways in which people harm the environment and attempting to shake responsibility off you are really showing your own guilty conscience about the issue. Consider for a moment that driving a car, using electricity, and household chemicals can be in many ways harmless(carpooling, Wind/Solar Electric provider, Organic cleaning agents) compared to directly supporting the destruction of an ecosystem.
    [/quote]
No one is saying to quit MDMA as this isn't the answer to the root cause of the problem. The answer is to get legalization and control the production of MDMA through regulation and responsible sourcing of precursors. In the mean time you have a responsibility as an informed consumer to decide what you want your money to support. Sassafrass and other types of trees are not endangered and can make plenty of safrole oil, which is where the world's legit supply comes from.
First off the 2000 metric tons of safrole for legitimate uses comes from sources that aren't endangered like s. Albidum and other common trees. The rare trees are poached simply for the illegal MDxx production market and the restrictions on safrole are the reasons why this is done. There is no shortage of safrole oil for the legitimate uses so there is no need for it to be poached from endangered trees that would make no sense (wiki article ftl). It's only the surreptitious networks that need the black market safrole because of restricted access to large amounts needed for manufacturing MDxx class drugs. Macy's has nothing to do with it. It's the governments, poachers, smugglers, chemists, dealers, and users that are responsible for this unnecessary destruction.

But the way you say it makes it sound like all E and Molly come from trees? I will just ask my guy from now on, "Did this come from a tree?" He would probably think I am retarded :smilielol5:

What would a street level dealer know about chemistry anyway? It's not his job to make the shit just to sell it. He wouldn't be able to tell you what was in it if he wanted to.

You are misinterpreting MDMA's precursors for the drug itself. No one ever said E came from trees. Safrole does. Pay attention.

There are other routes to MDMA without safrole or isosafrole but they are more time consuming involving extra steps and less efficient in yield. More than likely you have eaten MDMA that is made from safrole.

saying MDMA comes from a tree is like saying LSD comes from a fungus...it's falling short of a crucial distinction. MDMA is synthesized using tree oils; LSD is synthesized using Ergot fungus derivatives.

pretty good video on the subject.
You should have a better understanding of the process after watching this.
Further proof that the demand for E, greedy individuals, and prohibition by stupid governments is fueling the destruction of an entire ecosystem.

Napalm and Agent Orange fucked a lot of shit up in Asia too, just exactly why should I be concerned about a few trees being attacked by so little men with chainsaws?..

Well well.... a lot of the true colors of many of you are shining here in this thread. Quite revealing in a very sad sense. I can truly see what good MDMA has done for you in regards of empathy or compassion towards other living beings. Again more childish shifting of the topic to shamelessly shave off responsibility. Agent orange and napalm can't be prevented, they happened in the past. This is happening now and can be stopped. It isn't a few trees by anyone's standards they are clear cutting acres of forest. Instead of trying to immediately downplay the situation you could look into it at least be somewhat accurate.

If we keep saying "blah so what, It's just so and so trees or this rare animal why should I care?" we are going to run out of things to be apathetically unconcerned about and really up shit creek once we do have something to be concerned about - the inevitable effects that such dramatic unbalances in the earth will have on us or our descendants.
