Still attacking the messenger I see. How about DEALING with the issues he presents? Must I repeat myself over and over?
As soon as one loses or does not employ some sense of objectivity, you know a nerve has been rubbed.Ergo ,the continual attacks on moore.Moore is not objective-he doesn't pretend to be.Wether he stretches the truth or not in his previous works,I don't give a shit.No matter what percentage of his work is bullshit,no one could match the republican slime machine. As far as 'Sicko' goes, health care in the US is fucked and is an issue that affects everyone here.Exept the rich,of course. So,if he was to present "the other side" of his indictment of our system--what would it be?I just want for american citizens the same socialized health care with which the legislators have gifted themselves.(it's all about the money,boys--Big Dan).
I think MM over inflates himself here. Ok so CNN made a few errors. As has been said so does he. Intentional errors ? On CNNs part I imagine ''sloppy journalism'' MMs part hell yeah. I imagine CNN's ''fact check'' is the same as http://www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/ . I was reading that and it is not a ''fact check'' it is a ''assertion check'' for the most part. This info is 7 years out of date - to quibble over a few % points also taking into consideration MM does not even know the country the assertion is being made of - is petty to the extreme. Fudging the facts Moore style : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6905909.stm
Isn't that exactly what you are trying to do with Moore, just because you inaccurately feel your right to augment your manhood with a gun might be threatened.
I've been personally familiar with US medical care in the US, with my elderly parents. I know about the three day bed rule for medicare patients. I've seen how the lack of insurance can mean that your leg doesn't get set for week after an accident when it was broken, because your employer wants you to qualify for medicaid or welfare, not charge his insurance company. I've seen the hospitals and doctors sell their medical directives about denying all care including nutrients and water. There are major problems that need to be addressed, instead of respewing the spin that medical care in the US is the greatest thing ever invented. Perhaps it is for the rich and insured and young. But it isn't for the working poor or the elderly. I've seen how cardiologists recommend one thing for patients on medicare, then find out they have supplemental insurance and have a whole new range of treatment they can recommend. Why is that?
Then we could say that of Bush and Cheney's speeches also. Except they aren't nearly as well documented or researched.
Amen Gardener. And so is the big farce we put on in the UN about Iraq. Moore's got it right. He's one sided, but that doesn't make him wrong or a liar. He's got so much time and money to get a story out....why waste that time and money on the b.s. "other side".
We could also say that Gore's Inconvenient Truth since it only addresses his viewpoint and never addresses conflicting data also is nothing but an editorial. http://truthrock.blogspot.com/2007/01/inconvenient-truth.html
Not in love with Michael, but admire the fact that he's willing to spend his money on topics that need to be debated.
Loved the footage of the polar bears, I think that's the part that has won so many adherents to his green revolution, which if you follow marketing at all, is the hottest thing coming down the wire at the moment. Green is in! Save the polar bears! But you don't have to worry about grandma and granddad's health care. They aren't that cute and furry are they...usually. Maybe some are.
Why is that allowed to happen, at a time when pharmacuetical companies are reaping the hugest profits in the history of drugs and medicine? We all love to talk about national health care, but perhaps just regulating insurance companies and pharmacueticals could achieve as much. Bet those companies wouldn't agree.
Getting rid of insurance companies is the way to go. National health care, remove all the insurance and health care costs will plummet around 50% or more!
Double digit stock increases aren't a given. I remember a time when people invested in a reasonable stock market. If you wanted stability you invested in utilities or mutuals. Enron and deregulation did away with the faith in utilities. Now everyone expects a return that in history only speculators could dream of, and they are selling their own rights and personal security for a promise that may never come true.
Same goes for any media. And unless this is the five o'clock news all creative types instill themselves and their message in their work. And if you watch Fox, they editorialize the news nightly.
Because they are complicient. I wouldn't be surprised if they have outlined a means by where both they and the medical industry can overcharge when insurance is available. And the insurance industry has their tables, they aren't losing money either, even with reduced enrollments.
Had a friend who was a chiropractor every year he had to attend so many training sessions a year to relicense. Those workshops almost entirely dealt with getting the most money for doing the least physical work. And many of them were sponsored by the insurance companies on how to report work done, so the insurance companies made out.
