Mid-West Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes

Hope you all have blessed time in the woods. I was thinking about coming but I am planning on spending a month in the woods for the national so I think I gotta pass on the Midwest regional.

Iowa is pretty beautiful though, high five.

 

New Directions for the Midwest gathering of the tribes. Front Gate had to be moved due to parking issues and mud.

Take south on I-35. Take the exit toward US-34 E. Turn right onto US-34 E. Head east on US-34 E (pass through Osceola). Take a right onto 288th Ave and head south. Take a left onto Garst. Garst will take a quick right and then a left, do not go straight, stay on Garst. Head east on Garst. Turn right onto 310 Ave. Turn Left on Mormon. Trail. Left onto 100th street, which becomes 440th street. Left on 110th ave. Left on 445th street. Parking at end WELCOME HOME

 

Ive never been to one of these gatherings, i have been to peace fest a few times in Michigan, a smaller festival, but this sounds interesting,can anyone go? or is it exclusive? it sounds fun, I am stuck in the City all the time, and Detroit is a bombed out hole, is this going to be a camping event? can i bring my family?? my wife and my son?

 

Rainbow Gatherings are non exclusive and everyone is welcomed to share in the beautiful experience. Camping together, breaking bread, and getting to know each other in the woods.



There is more to it, and it can be a very magical experience in my opinion. Marijuana use is very common, but alcohol is not so much. I mention this just in case you take offense to people smoking the herb for whatever reason.

no, i dont take offense to it at all. I used to be a avid smoker, maybe too avid, my wife smokes, i had a few bad trips with hallucinogens after my thousandth hit after a 10 year stretch of taking hallucinogens, i feel my body was just telling me ive gotten what i needed out of hallucinogens, and to take the experiences i had and use them, for some reason after the bad trip (3 of them actually, after the 3rd, i got the point, my body was done with them) I was smoking, and ever since then, i get panic attacks time 10000000, and it sucks, it feels like im dying, which i hate, because i used to love to smoke, but, i guess it was just my time.. I really very rarely use any substances anymore, my friends envy me for it, but im 27, ive enjoyed my 15 year run with using everything under the sun, now its time for me to grow my family... Ive never been a hippie in anyway, i dont dress like a hippie, by looking at me, you would think i was a drug dealing gangster lol.. but i have a good heart, i hang out with people of all different backgrounds, growing up around all blacks, gave me a outlook on how it feels to be a minority, i accepted all people, and its nice because i can go into any group i feel we share a common order of things and get along with them, and it doesnt matter what fashion i like, fashion is what it is, your visual appeal you make of yourself.. alot of people take this and assume who you are based on looks... but anyways, what about family? my son loves fests, and the forest is always great.. im just wondering what kind of looks i would get, some people who say they are "enlightened" arent at all, and not to offend anyone, ive met alot of hippies who were bigger assholes then anyone ive ever met lol, which seems odd to me.. do you know what i mean?

 

it looks like alot of fun though, where is this one going to be? and also, where would the closest gathering be to michigan?

DNR kicked us out... the bulk of the familly headed to Mark Twain NF in Missouri around Eureka(holding for nationals)... Cyoyte(sp?) and company are there.... send me a message if you need help...

I'm not going to air all of the dirty laundy from this gathering here... but focalization was lacking to say the least. if you want more info PM me....

I'll be in the woods cleaning up (mostly by myself) for the next few days, and there should be someone in the woods most of the rest of the month to help any stragglers... there's food and water...

Spring council is on the 5th of june, one of the 7 states will be chosen.
Also heard a rumor that one person will BLOCK N.E.
Seems to me if say for arguments sake,, there are 10 people, 9 agree on one thing,,, does this give the 1 person a right to block what the majority wants? This is not right, this is not the old ways, and not what I was taught in the first place! I bet the blocker is one of our old guard,,,, shakin my head,, tch, tch, tch!

The voices in my head tell me there's going to be a split, New England or maybe PA and the Southern Appalachians somewhere.

I think we should abandon the Vision Council/Spring Council process & draw a name of a National Forest out of a hat.

I've heard one of the Old Guard was going to block PA, because that would mean going back to the '86 site,

I really haven't paid that much attn, doubt that I will make the Gathering this year. If I have the $$, I won't have time, if I have time, I won't have $$. Sucks.

 

what a mess, i went up to the reg. and stayed for the weekend, and helped set up a kitchen. the spot was ok except the tickes. i thought everthing was right. NOW my opion has changed. I think you cant deal with the DNR they have no felling and dont give a sh t about you. no more dealing with them i say. and i think anouncing any event on the net is asking for trouble. lets go back to word of mouth.

basically, as far as the state forest in Iowa is concerned, at first DNR was all aboiut it... then the boss found out, then the bosses boss found out... at one point a permit was an option, not any more... if there was a permit then they couldn't kickj us out... (future refrence for state forest)....

otherwise we are at the mercy of DNR *as long as they are cool with us*

 

So.... tomorrow we should be finished with cleanup.. I, and others are leaving (among what we are leaving, is a working kitchen, and some food), if the main "vocalizer" is worth anything, he'll be there for the rest of the month to host any random people who show up.....
