the invention of the myth of god goes much further back than the leaders of the christian church. "god" as he's known today came into creation thousands of years before the christian church was established. that is, if you're not one of those crazy little people that believe the earth is only like two or three thousand years old. then it's a different story. ;)

organized religion, as it is, is something to obviously disagree with. anything that is forward, and structured is going to have many people disagreeing, and especially when it's ideals are PREACHED. many of us just have to accept the fact that it is the way it is, and we musn't fight it. we just have to offer alternative education. and many of those that already "hate" christianity and organized religion need a bit of a lesson on the basics of religion itself. not meant as an insult, it just provides a good insight for comparison.

    love,

Alright ah... where to start. Oh, first of all, LOL to whoever said, "The astronaut who sits in the space shuttle while the other two guys walk on the moon."

Second of all, Islam does not teach that's it's right to kill anybody. Okay?

Next; why does it seem like it's cool with a lot of people here to believe anything you want . . . as long as you're not christian? The teachings of Jesus and the rest of Christianity are largely a part of what instilled most of my outlook I have today, about being kind to all, loving those who are for you and against you, and much more. There are things that go wrong with ANY religion when people use it as a tool for their own selfish purposes or with any ulterior motive. Or are just raised in an atmosphere of strictness that causes them to be afraid to event think about learning or believing in anything else.

Soulrebel, what do you mean, by the way, when you say that everything in the bible is " bull shit" ? I mean, of course you're welcome to criticize all you want, as much as you want, questioning only breeds learning and understanding, but back up what you say. I'm curious.

There is a lot in the bible I read and think either, "what the hell does that mean??" or "what does this have anything to do with what this is supposed to be about," or, "This totally contradicts something else I JUST read!"

What my thinking is, is that a lot of the law focused on in the old testament was not necessarily made as proclaimed by god, "Follow these rules and you shall go to heaven!" but rather, guidelines made by the leaders of the community in order to help people following them to have a sense of unity in how they led their lives, and make a nice foundation to make it easier to be a part of the religion, to have solid virtues to build their decisions and paths around. Perhaps, the important thing for some was not what the rules said, but the fact that there were rules to follow.

However, our culture is different now, obviously. People in general are more educated, not only the elite classes, and it's therefore easier to research and learn things on your own, not just believe what someone who claims to be far more knowledgable tells you.

There's a chapter in Romans, which is in the new testament, that sort of talks about this. It uses eating meat as an example. It says basically, if it helps somebody in their own faith to not eat meat because they feel it's what God wants them to do, don't criticize them or call them evil because they do something a different way than you do. And that's just one example.

The defining point about Christianity is really that, while the rules are helpful, they aren't the most important thing. The only thing we know for sure is the love of God, and that's by far the message to live by, over anything else.

yeah I shouldnt have put it that way. There is some good things in the bible, but most are lies IMO. I have actually read the bible(most of it anyways), and one of the first parts in it makes me not want to belive the rest. ill go get my bible and quote it......

    and im back. it says:
Joseph just found out that Mary was going to have a baby that wasnt his. Then it goes "While he was thinking about this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife. For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived."
^^that was Luke 2.1-7 The Birth of Jesus Christ

here is another part which makes me not want to belive the rest of it:
"After they had left, an nagel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph and said, "Herod will be looking for the child in order to kill him. So get up, and take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you to leave.""
    ^^Escape to Egypt, Luke 2.1-7

    and another:
"After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother, and go back to the land of Israel, because those who tried to kill the child are dead."
^^The return from Egypt, Luke 2.1-7

Joseph sounds more like someone who is tripping then someone who has "God" talk to them. He smoked a little too much, had a weird ass dream, and told everyone "God" talked to him in a dream. There are some things that are good in the bible, but those dreams he had a pure bullshit to me. Sorry if I offended anyone :)

Yeah, I can definitely understand being skeptical about the whole angels-of-the-lord-appearing-in-dreams idea. And then, if one aspect is difficult to accept and you deem it untrue, then it's like, what else are they lying about?

But I still don't think it's an all or nothing type deal. I'll think to myself, well, maybe that's not exactly what happened, but the little details like that aren't the point, anyway. The creation story is a good example, in that it's written like a fable. It has animals talking, it has oversimplified themes... there were more elements that I'm not thinking of...oh, it uses lot's of symbolism...there are more. Anyway, the point is that it was written like a story to explain the idea of God creating world and then people needing God in a way that's easy to understand. No, I don't believe God sat there and crafted the land one day, and later molded little animals and birds, and said, poof, let there be light, all in a week. I believe in evolution and the... "big bang" theory or whatever the kids are callin' it these days. I just think it started somewhere. I mean, they say that every species we have today all evolved from one single cell. Well, what if that first one cell was God? Basically, the Bible isn't a total representation of God, or Christianity, and you have to look at it for the major recurring themes overall to get to the bottom of it.

Anyway, I'm rambling off the subject now, I hope you were able to get through another long winded response of mine :)

    2. Fast food worker (people are really rude sometimes...)
    3. Anything dangerous, or anything that makes you puke/feel sick (this applies to janitor too...)
    4. The people that clean up after sick people in hospitals... like you know, cleaning up their... bodily messes... and such
    5. The owner of hipforums who has to listen to everyone's bitching. :p (I couldn't think of another one)

however, I would love to be a politician. To have all that money and power would be great. And all you have to to is be born rich, have your family know some people, and lie. Sounds easy enough to me. :D

If I were president, I'd tell my cabinet to back the fuck off of my back and actually attempt to run the country in a more efficient manner.
