I've drank hundreds of times and I still view alcohol as just a moderately decent way to occupy my time when I have no better drugs to use. Alcohol is fun sometimes, but it's certainly nowhere near being my favorite drug, or even my second or third or fourth favorite drug. It's pretty low on the list, imo.
I view alcohol like I do psychedelics - you can use it constructively and investigate your mind in an altered state, or you just do it and have a good time.
That's blasphemy right there. You can MAYBE, let me repeat a huge MAYBE compare alcohol to pot. But in no way is it like the 'real' psychedelics. Even if there is some possible disinhibition or something it makes you to drowsy (cognitively) to do any work with it. Playing music on alcohol is just plain frustrating. Alcohol has about much investigative qualities of the mind as poppers. No, i'm not exaggerating that either. It's not going to give you any profound insight into life or other realms. It may at best allow you to investigate personal issues but usually the dosages needed for that kind of think are large enough to where you will forget about that shit in the morning. I think alcohol is amazing in it's own right, but let's not get shit twisted here. Plus, i've heard to many times fucking alcoholics claim that it's not a drug and how the psychedelic drugs i use are bad but alcohol is good when they are to stubborn to even try psychs, for let this shit to slide.
Wow. All that might be true for you, but not for me man, which is why I said what I said. Kids get fucked up piss their pants sure, but I'm over here drinking the blood of Christ, don't tell me that a psychotropic substance like alcohol can't be investigatively psychedelic when I've had dying on the cross moments curled up in the bathroom floor because I could feel the universal cosmic heartbeat radiating the collective empathy of the entire world into my headspace. An experience like that challenges your sanity in it's magnitude, I don't really need a culture or tie-dye T-shirts to tell me which drug is powerful in my mind lol. So what, I don't base my experiences with drugs on what other people say about them.
Yeah what works for one person doesn't always work for another. While alcohol definitely isn't even close to being one of my favorite drugs and I see no benefit in drinking, aside from getting drunk, it may be completely different for others.
Who said anything about some mo fuggin psychotherapy lol? Are you one of those bulls that are so hung up on the legality of something that you think it's legal status directly correlates to it's effectiveness/usefulness? I mean, what is going on here?
I'm not even going to take the time to bother responding to these questions. :coffee: OOOOOO Coffee that's one legal substance i've not really got into yet, is it good or energy drinks better?
Think of how long alcohol has been used for. It was made illegal for 13 years in this country (U.S.) compared to it's thousands upon thousands of years of use. There is no current medical use of it for anything remotely cognitive and it's legal (meaning ability to explore, test, etc). You figure out the answers to your own questions.
As opposed to something like LSD, which remains ilegal and has thousands of medical uses lol. Thinking that the chemical is synonymous with the culture surrounding it is not the best way to understand a drug.
What does this have to do with culture? I'm sure the alcohol culture of Egypt 4000 BC was a little bit different than Alcohol Culture of U.S. 2010? LSD has not even been around a 100 years?
Alcohol is actually great at exploring yourself, drinking with people loosens yourself up in social situations, but drinking alone you get to take the shield off your own view of yourself and get to know the real you. How you act with yourself when you straight up don't give a fuck is the real you. This is actually a good article on drinking alone: http://www.drunkard.com/issues/03_03/03-03_zen_drinking_alone.htm Also I'm confused at what exactly is going on in the argument above, I realize drugs and culture are being discussed by I don't understand in what way.
I don't know what this discussion is about anymore either. Apparently something about me being wrong or something.
I know i tried to drop it on the last page but you egged me on, looking over it maybe it was just a semantical thing i misinterpreted.
