i think alot of the Physical Graffiti is very underrated, although it was a compliation albums of sorts. Down By The Seaside and Night Flight are two of my favorite Zeppelin songs. Also, I like Ozone Baby from Coda...that's a good one, too.

compilation album??????? how do you figure???

yeah, it may have contained some outtakes from the houses of the holy sessions, ie "houses of the holy"....... still, how do you figure it a compilation album?? a more suitable compilation album would be coda, if youd consider it that...........

huh????? unreleased?? physical graffiti was released in 1975 as a double album. all those songs on that album were released.

I dont understand what you are getting at.

maybe he read something wrong - I still get confused by the fact that physical graffiti has a picture of houses on it - a 3D masterpiece on the vinyl sleeve - not so interactive on the CD version ... er... and houses of the holy - which has children crawling up a mountain - for some reason when someone says houses of the holy - I always think of the physical graffiti cover - but then some albums are just called 2 - and 3 - I'm easily confused - but anyway I probably said this already earlier - but -

'over the hills and far way' is really addictive - specially if you listen to it at that location..

    I dunno..........

but physical graffiti is in no way a compilation album. and there arent any unreleased tracks. when I think of unreleased tracks, it usually involves a remastered cd of a classic album that contains previously unreleased tracks. the who are notorious for doing such a thing..... I dont think led zeppelin has done this just yet....... most of their material that they recorded have been released somewhere.... they dont have that much unreleased material. and what you see on physical graffiti, the cd version, its exactly the way it was released to vinyl in 75.

physical graffiti on vinyl is awesome. and so is III (with the wheel)

the houses of the holy album was designed by storm thorgerson (notorious for pink floyd albums)

I have a terrible - almost satanic confession to make - the first time I bought physical graffitti on vynl - ok - i was young and naive - curiousity drove me to detach the wheel from inside the sleeve to see the whole thing in its entirity - so basically I killed the sleeve. What an album though.I didn't know that fact about him being the same artist as pink floyd - thats interesting - I like those details. If anyone knows the track 'Hats off to Harper' - then they may know that song refers to Roy Harper - who is an excellent guitarist - I saw him live in 1999 playing at a university gig with his son.Theres an album by jimmy page/roy harper made in the style of a rizla packet which is quite a classic too

I think what that person is getting at is that some of the songs on Physical Graffiti, Zeppelin had rough demos and such in the can as early as 1970... They still had to make them into finished songs for the album though...

Yes...that's why I said that it's a compilation album OF SORTS...I know that it isn't a true compilation album..but it isn't a true studio Led Zeppelin, either

Of course it's a true Led Zeppelin album. To say otherwise would be silly.

The only album I would agree with not being a true Zeppelin album, would be Coda...

exactly. coda was an album full of outtakes.

I still dont see what he exactly means by it not being a "true zeppelin album"

if by that mindset, there are a hell of a lot of albums by different artists that arent true albums either (compilations). if you believe that, then pink floyd's animals isnt a true pink floyd album either....... dogs and sheep were concert staples (although named as other titles) as early as 1974. they were supposed to be released as a follow up to dark side of the moon, along with shine on you crazy diamond, but that didnt fall through. so I guess we should say that the animals album was a compilation album of sorts because there were two new songs (pigs and pigs on the wing) and two unreleased songs (dogs and sheep??).

that reasoning is just ludicrous. physical graffiti is a true album and NOT a compilation by any means.

Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while,
Think I see my friends coming,
    Riding a many mile.
Friends, did you get a little silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me, my dear friends,
To keep me from the Gallows Pole?
What did you bring me to keep me from the Gallows Pole?

I couldn't get no silver, I couldn't get no gold,
You know that we're too damn poor
To keep you from the Gallows Pole.

Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while,
I think I see my brother coming,
    Riding a many mile.
Brother, did you get me some silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me, my brother,
To keep me from the Gallows Pole?

Brother, I brought you some silver,
    I brought a little gold,
    I brought a little of ev'ry thing
To keep you from the Gallows Pole.
Yes, I brought you to keep you from the Gallows Pole.

Hangman, hangman, turn your head awhile,
I think I see my sister coming,
Riding a many mile, mile, mile, mile, mile.
Sister, I implore you, take him by the hand,
Take him to some shady bower,
Save me from the wrath of this man,
    Please take him,
Save me from the wrath of this man, man.

Hangman, hangman, upon your face a smile,
Pray tell me that I'm free to ride,
Ride for many mile, mile, mile.

Oh, yes, you got a fine sister,
She warmed my blood from cold,
Brought my face to boiling hot
To keep you from the Gallows Pole,
    Your brother brought me silver,
    Your sister warmed my soul,
But now I laugh and pull so hard
And see you swinging on the Gallows Pole [IMG]
