you think God wrote the bible himself? bible is man-made and fallible. not to mentino, the bulk of its rules (which i rather imagine most people break regularly) are outdated for modern society

 

Really? Not that I'm of a Christian based faith, but which ones? Like killing and adultery? Perhaps the one about no false idols? I know which one's out dated, the one about stealing being bad.

my english professor made a joke about mother mary being a whore. He wears gigantic wool sweaters and has a white beard and glasses that cover half his face.

 

there are many rules other than the ten commandments. and an astounding amount of those rules seem totally pointless in modern day society, in fact, if you were to follow the bible literally, you would be highly frowned upon.

some of the things it says:
women are inferior to men
masturbation is evil
gay men should be stoned to death

if you're really interested, google it. you'll be shocked by some of the things in the bible, like this. if the god in charge of christianity really wrote the whole bible, that just reaffirms the choices I've made once again.

 

Noone is saying you should follow the Bible literally. That isnt what practicing religion means.

 

Thats okay, we are Christians, we are forgiving...You can say anything you want and insult Mother Mary, Jesus...
However, if you said anything about Allah or Muhamed, we'd burn flags and foreign embassies.

 

you've also said that religion demands practicing, and that it demands sacrifices. so what does practicing religion mean? you either allow for people to interpret their holy book on their own or you don't. if you're not meant to follow it literally, then who decides what you should or shouldn't follow?
