I don't think I'm in the mood for Enter the Void right now but ill finish it later probably, I got through an hour + of it. Can't deny the visual aspect is very impressive but it reminds me of Harvard Man quite a bit in some aspects of the story line, it seems this takes a more gritty, excessive route than Harvard Man though. The main dude in Harvard man drop 15,000 Ugs though so I guess that's debatable but Enter the Void is moreish lol.
Not a movie, but interesting nonetheless, "Infinity:The Ultimate Trip", documentary about death, dying and what's beyond. Also, has anyone seen DMT The Spirit Molecule yet? I've watched it, it's pretty good.
Yah I saw DMT: The Spirit Molecule, Pretty good. It didnt really supply too much new information but it was cool to hear the research participants testimonials and some of the interviews from some of the people who are fairly admired in the psychedelic culture. I've read the book too and I'm glad it gave some background about psychedelics that are not included in the book, made it feel worthwhile to watch and not redundant.
It came together pretty good, it was a decent movie. I'm glad I saw it, don't really desire to see it a second time. Not really a fan of how my 3 favorite psychedelics were portrayed basically as hedonistic "junkie" escapes. I know you mentioned something about the levels of Bardo from The Tibetan Book of the Dead, it certainly didnt really explain different levels in an obvious way to the causual viewer. Harvard Man verbalizes the psychedelic experience more, perhaps its more overtly philisophical yet its basically a standard subpar movie, certainly none of the visual artistic flair Enter The Void has. Im scared to carry any amount of drugs on hand in Japan now though, didnt look like he had that much... I'd like to see a movie heavily involving psychedelics which doesn't also involve the main person in over his head with the law too LOL.
 And yeah.....the bardo levels are there, if you know what you're looking for. and a lot of the scenes are confusing, if you don't know about the bardo. I'm gonna have to find Harvard Man. It doesn't have a good rating on IMDb, but the story sounds interesting enough, and some of the reviews make it sound like it's worth watching.
i didn't watch the whole thing, but shit...i coulda guessed actually i think i do remember E pills now..
@TNS: I didnt know it at the time but I talked to my homie in Mexico who went to film school about Enter the Void and he showed me a movie by that same director before called Irreversible. Irreversible is a pretty fucked up movie from what I remember, I think its something you may enjoy though. I definitely reccommend that to you, probably not too many other people though. LOL I want to say that it was subtitled when I saw it though, I think its in French or Spanish or something.
Yeah I've thought about watching Irreversible a few times, but just never got around to it. I know I'll end up watching it eventually.
So I had planned to watch Enter the Void this weekend, maybe tomorrow but before I could get around to it, a friend invited me to dinner and to watch Vanilla Sky. One of my all time favorites, and home cooked indian food to boot, no contest. I so dig that movie. On so many levels. She and I had a long conversation about it afterwards which made it even better. One thing that came up was a fact I didn't know. It's based on a spanish film called Open Your Eyes, with Penelope Cruz playing the same part. Of course immediately added to my netflix tonight. The thoughts and ideas presented in Vanilla Sky are a bit similar to what I am trying to explore about myself with psychedelic experiences. Fuck, life is short.
gaspar noe who directed enter the void said it was inspires by his experiences with psychadelics particularly ayahuasca(DMT)
Vanilla Sky is a trippy ass movie. I haven't seen it in a LONG time though and I can't really remember the themes. I should watch it again. Let me know when you finally watch Enter The Void and, like I said before, make sure it's the full ~160 minute version. Personally, after I first watched it, I felt as though I had just had a pretty intense trip, and I wasn't even tripping. lol It's a very intense movie, both visually and emotionally, and the ending made me smile from ear to ear
Absolutely hated Vanilla Sky, but that's maybe because I've watched the original spanish version called Open Your Eyes first, which is so much better on every level.
Ya. I made a deal with the girl I mentioned, we're watching that one together. I'm looking forward to it and comparing it to VS. Limiting my expectations but I think from seeing the trailer that it's less sophisticated in production, more so in acting and story.
I've just watched Tron: Legacy. Man, this movie is littered with psychedelic references everywhere. There was moment where letters 'LSD' appeared on some computer terminal, there's lots of typical geometrical circular visuals, and a theme of perfection/enlightenment, not to mention zen buddhist theme, and Jeff Bridges looks exactly like Alan Watts!
I just watched this online a couple of hours ago and it kicked way more ass than I expected. lol I also saw "LSD" on the screen.
