he has every right to listen to his music as loud as he wants. yes you can sleep with earplugs. i've had noisy neighbors as well. on a day i don't have any lectures i sleep from 5am to 5pm, i.e. at a time when most people are awake. previous year i was staying at my friend's house and he was renting a room next to mine where there was a very thin makeshift wall between the other room and mine. the guy put his tv on at 10 am when i was sleeping. i wore earplugs and slept through the whole thing. i don't have the right to tell other people when and how loud they can listen to their music/tv/etc.
'i want' always transcends other people's needs for kids and adults alike. you must be terribly naive not to get this. everybody is selfish. and there's nothing wrong with that. it's human nature.
Just because you can sleep with earplugs, then I guess everyone can sleep with earplugs, right? Ok, lets say I can sleep with earplugs, just for the sake of your silly argument. So, I am sleeping with earplugs and you are jammin. Then, someone breaks into my place and either steals everything I own, or kills me or my family. Are you gonna be responsible for that because I had to sleep with earplugs and couldnt hear the intruder?
Since the intruder has the God-given right and liberty to go where he pleases, no, he would not be at fault. And because he has the right to anything he wants, your belongings are actually now his belongings. Stop being silly, zillagod.
Guess I must be, at that... No, I suspect it's your nature. And possibly the majority of under-five year olds. But not everybody. Lets face it...you're having a tantrum because you cant do what you want when you want. Life is a series of compromises - you want loud music at any given time ? Fine, do as already suggested - get some headphones [which is what I did, incidentally] or move somewhere there's nobody else to bother.
oh so you're so altruistic that other people's needs and wishes come before your own right? give me a break. learn to read. i didn't say 'any given time'. and if you're all for compromises then you should also be for other people getting to listen to their music loud from time to time. but you're not. which makes you a hypocrite.
it's because of people with a logic like this that US legal system is fucked. in the same vein: if the intruder breaks into your place and falls on a knife/other sharp object and hurts himself --would you be responsible?
Absolutely not. There is a law of clean hand in our legal system. In other words, if you ask for restitution because of the actions of someone else, but have acted wrongly, then you do not have clean hands and you may not receive the help you seek. Also, you can legally play loud music at a given time, but you must have a permit.
I don't know what the worst part of this thread is-- seeing how pathologically narcissistic some of the young people are, or seeing how violent, paranoid and morose the old people are. I really don't know who's side to take here because I'm still not sure what we're talking about exactly. Some neighbors are way too sensitive (or have other issues), and some people are just jerks about their music... on the other hand, hearing gangsta rap or heavy metal or something like that booming through the wall wouldn't make my day a happy one... so I guess I have to assume that other people think the same thing about my music. And it's nice to have peace and quiet sometimes.
I'm going to take the "Old people are mostly neurotic ageist and young'uns need to care a lil' bit for others feelings of shit" stance. Everyones' gotta push and pull collectivly to make things work and obviosuly non of you people are aware of this.
no, have you read my posts at all or just glanced at a few sentences? i said we should all be able to listen to music loud from time to time. because right now most ppl have a zero tolerance. conversely they are the ones who preach about their rights. and yet they fail to understand that in a situation with conflicting interests/rights, the solution is not for one group to get all the rights (their silence) but for both to get their rights realized (sometimes silence, sometimes music). in every other situation they agree with this kind of approach but not when in comes to music. which makes them hypocrites. also, since it's often a complete waste of time to argue with them or try to make them see this point of view, it is no surprise some just put their music on loud not giving a damn about them, because it is them who don't give a damn about other people themselves.
