'Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell' is the best track on that album, IMO.

that is a great song, but i like "it's summertime" a littttttle bit better...which is one of the songs that troubled me.

though its not the best song on there and is most notable for receiving a good amount of airplay (for a flaming lips song at that point in time anyway) "do you realize" was the song that REALLY got to me...just brought back VERY vivid, very painfully fond memories....

Dunno if this counts, and I dunno who sings it, and I'm not sure of the title of the song.
but some of the lyrics are "He ain't heavy, He's my brother"
Always gives me a few goosebumps!

one night after work i smoked some dank ass weed with my friend squirrel. when i got home, my boyfriend had written this incredibly beautiful song, and as i read the lyrics he had written as he sang it, i couldn't help but cry. i'm extremely... sensitive.. when i'm stoned. in a good way.

not that i don't cry all the effin time from beatles songs and other assorted songs, like baba o reilly.

Orient, Dollar & Okay's Tunes, and Eternal Rhythm part 1 & 2 by Don Cherry. Especially Orient, about 17 minutes into the song, when the free jazz/asian sounds break apart and Don Cherry is playing piano while using his voice as an instrument to follow the notes on a very simple melody. It's sounds like something a child wrote, so pure and innocent, without any lofty comprehension, just a kid sounding out loudly over the audience and it makes me cry every time.
Gates Of Delerium, Awaken, Revealing Science Of God, and Nous Sommes Du Soleil by Yes, as always, Steve Howe switching from hollow body jazz electric over to double neck steel string slide guitar, back over to nylon classical and into the heavy reverb slippery jazz signature sound he has (cant remember if its a Dan Electro or a Gibson, probably both  ) that he is so known for. Most YES songs after '69 bring me to tears, And You And I as well as Wonderous Stories have me breaking down every time, but the build ups and emotional power on pretty much all of the albums Relayer, Tales From Topographic Oceans, Close To The Edge, and Going For The One get to me and always have for the last decade. I realize more and more with every listen, and after hundreds, maybe thousands of listening sessions, the fact that I get more out of each song perpetually must mean something special.
On certain days, depending on my mood, the quality of the stereo (which has been noticeably lacking for a few months now) and the environment Im in, I Talk To The Wind and Epitaph by King Crimson can really dig into my heart. I love the whole first album and especially those two songs, and I always enjoy them without ever really getting tired of it, but they have brought me to tears quite a few times.
Definitely the songs Supper's Ready, Seven Stones, Back In NYC, Carpet Crawlers, and Cinema Show by Genesis. Cinema Show starts off a bit slow, the first half of the song really only has one part that lasts around a minute which puts my mind into that higher vibration and connection with the tears, but the second half when the guitars and bass start going wild with the drums, as Tony builds up for like 8 minutes with the keyboards, completely puts a hurting on my heart. I remember seeing a cover band called The Musical Box which had the original instruments, stage props, costumes and all given to them by the members of Genesis themselves. I walked in and sat down (I was rather late to the show) just moments before that second half of Cinema Show started up, and I had not even had a beer yet, or time to gather myself and get comfortable. I sat down and within half a minute I was watching the band play through blurry and soaked eyes, felt like my soul was just lifted out of my body and soaring to the sounds. Nothing quite like that really, it was brilliant and they hit every note exactly like on the original album. If anyone is into Peter Gabriel era Genesis, I highly recommend going to see them, they tour fairly often and are purely true to the original sound. I saw them play The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway in it's entirety once, both double albums and in the order, with the same costumes Peter used to wear and the three big screens behind the band showing his tripped out movies flowing with the music.
And many other songs get to me, songs which I dont care for the bands much but certain tunes are just beautiful. Do You Realize is one of them, it brings back memories and makes me smile through pain, most likely very similar to your situation with that one, Colin. Im not a big fan of Flaming Lips, not a fan at all really, but that song has a very God Conscious manner to it. My Sweet Lord by George Harrison is another, any song that has a beautiful rendition of the Maha Mantra makes my eyes swell up for sure.
And then, of course, we have the likes of Bach, basically his entire collection of Viola, Cello, and especially Lute suites make my head buzz in total harmony. Although when I play his music on my classical guitar, Im normally so involved in playing it right (which can get extremely difficult at times and require much concentration considering I cant read or write the musical language, only play by ear) that I dont get the same emotional sensation as one does during listening alone. Sometimes I do but it depends on the song and my abilities at the moment.
And last but not least, any proper, soulful, slow run down of Beethovens Moonlight Sonata takes me to a place of a darker kind of beauty. I always imagine him looking up at the moon some night and writing the song in a sort of hazy mood by candlelight during a mild thunderstorm. Probably, that's not how he wrote it lol but it's fun to pretend!
Oh and one last one, when a choir with a lead female vocals doing opera like high pitched version of O Holy Night, never fails to make me cry. Especially the lyrics "Fall on your knees, Oh hear the angel voices..."
I dont care much for the Christian overtones of the song, but that line reminds me much of my first experience with understanding and connecting to the omnipresent sound OM as our manifested reality rather than just a head buzzing, harmonic mantra. I did fall on my knees in fact, and it was as quite as SouthWest Philadelphia can ever be expected to get. Though the magic mushrooms I had ingested earlier that evening surely had something to do with that heavy vibration running through my brain like a continuous electric jolt
Namaste! Great idea for a thread!

Yea Matt! Finally someone else who knows what Im talking about with Genesis :D
That instrumental part is just brilliant, I mean I guess to some people the sounds of the synth can get a bit cheesy but whatever, Im in love with it. And although we all hate Phil, I mean come on now, his drumming in that instrumental part is amazing. My mom said when she was them live back in the day, Phil played that part along with another drummer, I believe it was Chester from Frank Zappas band. I could be wrong but Im pretty sure thats what she said. And she said they use opposing hands to drum, so the two drum sets are next to each other, with each drummer playing the exact same thing (or close to it) so it looked like one of those psychedelic split fractal images, sort of like the camera on Jimmy Page during that Song Remains The Same video :D

Zappas music is good, but his lyics are not serious, which is still alright i guess.
