in any case, if people want to listen to really over-the-top music you should be listening to Mercyful Fate / King Diamond. now that's good music

 

Dragonforce is kiddie metal that is marketed towards 15 year olds who think good music and guitar playing means "ins4n3 sw33p Arp3ggios".

In all honesty, they write terrible, tasteless music.

That being said, I'll see them live every time they come to town. Their concerts are a blast and they pull off all their shit perfectly. I had alot of fun seeing them live, but I don't understand how anyone could listen to their cd and actually take it seriously.

 

Agreed, Mercyful fate is an excellent example of heavy metal that sounds over the top without losing their balls (although King Diamond may sound like that at times ). And besides the high vocals it isn't really related to power metal.

I can say i take the band serious be starting this thread but i dont take the band serious for its lyrics......as for the sound its all for fun...... i hope you understand what i mean...

Fetus didn't form until 1991, so it's actually the other way around. Also, they're probably more responsible for the rise of 'death core' than any other death metal band.

 

When I was younger I had a friend that hated Avril Lavigne and loved Blink 182, a girl invited him to an Avril Lavigne/Blink 182 concert. He enjoyed the Avril Lavigne part of the show and thought Blink 182 didn't even seem to be trying. He still hated Avril Lavigne and loved Blink 182.

I never once got the impression that Dragonforce takes themselves seriously, or expects anyone to take them seriously.

Just the song/album names are hysterical. "Ultra Beatdown?" I can't even read that without cracking a smile.
